Played in last nights PLO8 tourney at Commerce - came in the money, so can't complain but there were a few spots where I'm not sure if I did the right thing.

There were 70 players, about 550K in chips on table.

1. With 20 players left, I'm going nowhere and have about 10K (blinds 500/1000)...I'm in BB and get 9910Q and complete.

Flop: Kc Jc 5h. SB bets pot (about 6K)...do I shove with my wrap? Flush draw scares me. Also, have multiple players behind. Or do I look for a better spot?

2. Down to final table, everyone is in the money. Play is very tight. I've just doubled up twice and have a little over 60K...blinds are 2K/4K. Dealt A39K on button, suited ace. I choose just to limp...questionable?. BB, tight older asian man, pots for 25K with 10K left. Everyone folds....SB won't call if I reshove.
Do I call and gamble?

3. Play was going nowhere, people were tired and we chopped the pot 9 ways according to chip count. Of course, I had just lost the above pot 15 minutes prior and only had 25K. However, knowing that a chop like this might be possible, is it smarter to be extremely tight and not gamble? I've never chopped a final table with 9 players before.

Thanks...it was a fun tourney...nice to finally cash in one of these PL08 shovefests!

Don't get what you mean by complete. Hand one is an easy fold on the flop.

Hand two would be an easy raise without worrying about ICM. I probably raise anyway and now I get it in against that guy getting not quite 2:1. Icm and his image could maybe make folding ok

Chip chops are bad for the short stack. You should have kept playing or asked for more to get max/fair value.

cause the players gonna play play play play play and the haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate but I'm just gonna shake shake shake shake shake, shake it off shake it off

Thanks...

Am tired, must have meant check instead of complete for first hand.

Payouts were 500, 670, 840, 1000 for 9th, 8th, 7th, 6th...I figured $1010 was decent considering I was tied for 9th in chips (leader had 150K)..I would have had to finish 5th or better to improve my result. There weren't any donkey's at the final table...little action, and most raises and calls were with AAxx or A2xx or other good baby, suited aces. I certainly didn't have any edge!

Plus it was 2 AM on a workday...bad enough getting home at 3 AM and waking at 6

Hey, grats on your cash.

1. Is always a fold. I'm a bit puzzled by how the hand went down.

2. Equities run close in O8. You have BB covered and A39K on the button. What you should do is POT/call it off so short. By doing so, BB will fold some hands he is raising vs. a limp (or at least I would...)

3. If it is a chip chop you should indeed not agree to a deal and try to attack people who have to lose the most by losing an all in (midstacks). You could also try to make a different deal and announce an amount that is significantly higher that you'd get by chip chop or play.

EDIT: just saw your comment. Deal and be happy I guess

Thanks..

I can't recall exact details of hand 1, except that I was definitely in BB, and didn't put in any additional money preflop with that hand! I folded on flop. Of course, an Ace hits turn, both players get it in with top two/gutshots and the river bricks. Neither had a flush draw or a low (which came).

On hand 2, I wanted to raise, but was trigger shy as I had a decent stack for first time all night and didn't want to give it right back...my guess is BB would have still called and result would have been the same, but I probably should have raised.

1. Standard check/fold.

2. In general limping is quite bad, though stack sizes/payouts can create some mitigating circumstances. I can't see us folding to a raise as played.

3. In addition to the chip count, the location of the blind might also be pretty important. There are a lot of factors that go into calculating equity here and whether you want to chop or not.

I reshoved the second hand, and of course BB called (after SB folded...who said she was going to call if I had folded)...he had A277ss.

A2 won low, 77 won high.

Running the odds, I was 45/55 preflop...with dead money it was +EV. At least the decision looked good on paper!

For #2, I assume there were limpers in front of you, since you said BB raised to 25k? If that was the case, I think limping here is perfectly fine. Raising would be ok too if you think you have fold equity on the limpers, but I would probably opt for the lower variance play. Your hand plays pretty well and you have position.

When BB raises, going with it is ok, but not significantly better than folding, assuming you are readless on him.

You are correct...there were a bunch of limpers. It was basically a coin toss for me - should I gamble and try and win the tourney, or play more defensive and let other people "gamble". The table was playing fairly tight, and most players knew what they were doing.

I gambled and lost, and was OK with it. Eventually, in PLO8, you will have to gamble it up!
