Omaha 6-12, Full Kill Omaha 6-12, Full Kill

Where is there a good strategy book on higher-limit Omaha 8?

I've had 2100.00 + run with 2 tournament cash outs, an excellent night on 3-6 Hold Em (310.00) and 3 very good nights on Omaha 8 4-8, half kill to 6-12.

I dropped a good amount in the 6-12 but considering with all the full kills, the game virtually was 10-20 with no kill. (Except I was the casualty this time. Now I know what it feels like when I run over others in the 4-8 half-kill)

Factoring in my worst night ever at 4-8, in which I nailed Hollywood on the flop with a redraw to the nut spade flush on the turn, only to be sucked out on by a novice with a 1-out to the ROYAL flush on the river and ended up just shy of 300 down for that night, what I dropped in the 10-20 game is not out of scope.

10-20 is 2.5 times higher, my loss wasn't that high.

We played a lot of short handed so I played hands such a A26x unsuited, or suited with an Ace, A35x, etc. And I'll be damned if not every time I did hit 2nd best, usually good enough to win, every time someone had A2xx and didn't get counterfeited. Or would hit nut low on the river. Just one of those nights, that's just poker.

My bankroll is still intact and I've got more than enough left for the level of game I can currently beat.

I've just never seen a night where a player to my right, if I hit on the flop and I'm solid on the turn, they nail the nuts every time. Not bad play on either of our parts.

OK, a lot of rambling. The situations I was calling in were correct enough to be in, since when you have the nuts you want draws to pay you.

I can see where I need more respect for my money but more importantly I need some good blog links, books, etc. on playing 10-20.

There's more ramble that substance here so if someone can hook up with me that I can bounce more specifics off of, that would be fantastic. I didn't play bad last night, just had the lousiest run of cards since that 4-8 night mentioned above.

Thanks!

Mike

Welcome to the forum.

There is a thread about O8 books stickied on top of the first page.

There is a separate coaching subforum were you can inquire about getting a coach, if that's what you're looking for. 2+2 rules require that all discussion of coaching be in that subforum.

If you want to post specific hands to discuss, feel free. Please read the FAQ at the top of the first page. Also, you might find reviewing prior/existing threads to be valuable. Don't be shy about participating in existing threads.

If you want to post low/no content stuff, like ramblings, there's a miscellaneous/low content thread for that purpose.

Mike -- since you are a new poster you can't use the private message feature yet, so I will respond to your post report in this thread.

I am sorry that you are unhappy that this thread was closed. We however make an attempt to maintain some sort of organization to this forum. Most of the rules we follow are discussed in the FAQ, which you should read if you have not already. Since your post report was certain to make clear that you are an adult, then I am sure you will understand why we have such rules. The opinion and experience of the moderators is that if everyone started their own thread for rambling or other low content subject matter, the forum would become disorganized and heavy on non-substantive posts that most people don't want to have clutter the first page of the forum.

I am sorry that you seem to be offended, and hope you understand and will continue to participate in the forum. If you have any questions about the forum, until you can use your private messages, post them in either the newb thread sticked at the very top or in the miscellaneous thread and I will answer them as quickly as I can.

Hi Mike. Happens to us all.

I don't think there's a book specifically about playing 10-20. Maybe I'm wrong, and if I am, hopefully someone will correct me. Check out the link provided above to our book thread.

My own experience is all 10-20 play is not the same.

In other words, some 10-20 players are stronger than others.

Games where there are more strong players are tougher than games than games where there are more weak players. In general there are some principles that, if followed, will hold you in better stead than if not followed. I don't think the principles are different when you're playing 10-20 than they are when you're playing 4-8, 5-10, or 6-12. However, they may be applied differently, depending on your particular opponents.

Doesn't it make sense that the average player in a 10-20 game is probably generally stronger than the average player in a 5-10 game, but with a lot of overlap and variance as you go from one group of players to another? (That's how it seems to me, based on my own experience and common sense).

You can bounce more specifics off the readers of this forum. But in order to do that you have to post specifics.

Read through some threads in this forum to get an idea of how that's done.
