After several AAxx v AAxx this week where I shoved preflop and got called by better AA, I checked my database for the year, filtered by "All in preflop"

AAXX (double paired) - small loss!
AAWx (wheel card) - 17bb per hand profit over about 250 hands
Others (AA6x and up) - 4bb per hand profit over about 250 hands

HEM1 doesnt let you filter for high-only AA (it groups 6,7,8,9,T together).

I'm wondering if it might not be smart to reduce variance by limping or folding hands like AA87 rainbow.

do you have "Hand Groupings (omaha8/b)" as a report in your report drop down list?

there's another hand grouping report created by pokeronn that has 27 AA groupings

Nope. In poker it's hard enough to get +EV spots, don't worry about a little variance.

If we can get it in PF all AA-hands are lovely. If I filter by PF action -> AI PF all AA-hands have a (mostly big) positive EV.

But the way to play them PF differs very much between NL and PL IMO.

i've copied the less detailed report below, and i believe these are the correct instructions to get it onto your HEM.

1. open notepad, copy/paste everything below save the file as Handgroupings-omaha8.

2. go to the reports folder in your holdem manager
program files>rvg software> holdem manager>reports

3. drag and drop the notepad file into the reports folder.

4. start or restart your hem and the report should be there.

My worst categories by far (apart from 'rest' which is going to include all the crappy hands in blinds):
small pairs, medium pairs, 3 low cards below 6, big pairs, 3 high card w/o pair

Now I know what hands I should be avoiding Shocked to see how much was lost in those categories. Maybe I should have paid more attention to the old saying - don't play any hand without an Ace!

^^^ The 3 -wheel type hands are a bit of a paradox, it seems. Like most implied odds hands, they play better in a multiway pot. But they depend on an Ace hitting the flop. But if a pot is 5 or 6-handed, it's a good bet that most of the Aces are already out. So I guess what these hands need, is a really loose, limpy game with bad players where a 7-handed pot doesn't necessarily mean most of the Aces aren't live.
