Was seated with omahaha at several tables today - he even resorted to a bit of quantum-style whinging. I tell ya that old poker saying is true, "he who complains the loudest gets the most luck". And so it came to pass.

Congrats to scruff on a very nice $28K score

The rest of us have some catching up to do, GL GL

Ty matey!

After 22nd in flo8 L and 70th in PLO L It feels super sweet to get to HU.

With any luck I can run deep in another one before the end of the series.

Tomorrow I'm going to plant a bunch of pansy seeds in little peat pots. I don't know why they're called "peat" pots; they look like paper to me. Anyhow the pots are all set for planting. Assuming the seeds will grow, when the plants get bigger, I'll transplant them into larger pots... clay pots. I like to grow pansies because they're pretty and because you can eat them. (They taste good... kind of tangy).

I like to grow stuff I can eat. Last year I didn't eat many of my pansies, some but not many. They were just too cute to eat. For edible flowers I mostly ate nasturtiums. Nasturtiums taste good, a bit like mild radishes, and they're not as cute as pansies. I have several nasturtium plants currently growing in our atrium and regularly snack on the orange flowers. You can eat nasturtium leaves too; they taste about the same as the flowers.

Anyhow, I bought some pansy seeds which I'm planning to plant.

The pansy seeds look a bit like tiny apple seeds. That is, the seeds are rather small and shaped kind of like apple seeds.

Here's my question:

When I plant the pansy seeds, should the pointy end be up, down, or sideways for best results?

Thanks for any help.

Surely as a California resident you are overlooking the obvious that could be growing along with your pansies? Fully edible, smokeable, saleable, medicinal, wonderful feminine plants? Will do wonders for the appetite and labido in the later years

And you have nice big pots. My tomatoes and strawberries are all in standard eight inch red clay pots, my three blueberry plants are in a half whiskey barrel and my three blackberry plants are in larger red clay pots. Assuming some of the pansy seeds germinate, I'm not sure at this point where I'll put them.

Looks like you have good dirt (sandy loam). Alas, the dirt on our lot is poor (hard and rocky with little or no organic matter). I have to buy the soil I use for my pots. Mostly it's potting mix.

My wife has various flowers planted in several beds of imported soil but I don't mess with her stuff.

Anyhow, thanks for sharing.

Go Seahawks!

No thanks. I'm just not interested in growing or using pot. Getting drunk or stoned doesn't appeal to me.

I'm not an attorney, but I think growing marijuana without a special license is a felony in California.

Oh I bet all the kids loved YOU when you were Dean lol. Speaking of, I was reading a thing there about academic salaries. Dean ranks highly. Would you believe that the average football (US) coach made ~ $1 million though? I found that staggering. That seem right in your experience? Coach gets paid 5-10 times more than a tenured professor?

Yes it's Colorado and Washington State where there aren't any rules these days. California you need a permit to sell but you can grow as many plants as you like without a permit, so long as there is no intent to sell. From what I can tell, the max penalty is a $500 fine for 1 ounce - 10 lbs of saleable product.
