Don't like the flop. If you are going to bet I would prefer larger. You've flopped a medium strength hand massively multi way which you want to protect, but your sizing is encouraging a lot of hands to call you and you are OOP. I am guessing the table is pretty loose passive looking at preflop so you close to 0 fold equity with your sizing. I think my default would be to start with a check.

As played you have a crappy SPR and face considerable action. You have, going by the flop action, the nut high with some weakish redraws. Best case is everybody is spewing A3** and you have 40% (3 ways). More realistically you are getting freerolled against some better low, flush/straight draw combos in a massively high variance spot. Very easy to be in bad shape.

To answer your question. Not played correctly throughout. Sorry Neil.

I hate your flop action as I do not see what you are trying to achieve with your bet.

It's one of those strange spots when you have a reasonable high with a bunch of blockers where you never really have any safe cards to hit. We fold this hand generally pre flop for this exact reason (obviously not an option in this particular scenario).

The rest of the hand seems okayish in this field although as streighty has mentioned you have a strong chance of being free-rolled on the turn. I think I prefer to play this hand ultra passively.

You have a monster on the flop but a hand that almost always does better with less players, lower spr, and is certainly easier to play and make less mistakes under those conditions. You are sometimes in badish shape if it gets in 3+ ways on the flop but sometimes in great shape and pretty much need to be massively coolered to get it in bad HU. Going for a check raise is good on the flop if they bet frequently but given the number of limpers perhaps they are more passive and just leading pot is easiest. In my experience min betting isn't going to induce a raise on this texture all that frequently but if you think otherwise in these games maybe it's ok, as long as that's what you were going for (get it in on flop).

On the turn we would love to have a smaller spr but the 2 is one of the better cards for us. You can certainly get it in vs multiple players and be doing great. Even HU it's not often you'll be crushed, but having that lower turn spr will ensure you won't be making a mistake getting it in

Since when has top 2 pair 7 handed with a weak flush + low draw a monster. You certainly do not need to be massively unlucky to lose this hand.

No worries, I just figured on the turn that if I hit either A58Q I have had it off. If spades hit, I'm in trouble possibly. Also the blinds were still low enough to play my remaining stack if I lose.

You also don't need to be that lucky for someone to make a mistake here and ship 5's or bad q8 here in a low buy-in tournament where everyone's seeing the flop with god knows what. Or just call and be freerolled on the turn same difference. Or 2 poor players decide to flat with a2 or weak a3 and then great 3 way equity for us. I'm finding our hand strong here from my intuition and from running some simulations. Yes you will lose sometimes and get it in somewhat bad sometimes but are you really this risk averse here to not want to take an aggressive line? Also we have a running flush draw which should not be ignored.

OP, if you can figure out how to post the hand directly in this thread, please do.

Happy to have new posters/non-regs posting hands here and am happy to do what I can to facilitate posting. If you have a problem posting a HH, PM me and I'll do what I can to help. But the 2+2 rules preclude linking to other poker HH/replayer sites so I have to delete the link. Also would be most appreciative if new/non-reg posters would take a look at the FAQ and see about putting type of game and stake in the subject line of posts. Thanks very much.

OK Niss, no problem.
I'm just too lazy to learn new stuff on the internet, I'm still a dinosaur.
Will try harder next time, lol
