Yep, that. But it also depends on how sensitive you are to fluctuations. Tourney are extremely high-variance anyway, so if you wanted to sacrifice EV a bit, i wouldn't blame you.
In certain situations near a large payout increase (NOT necessarily the money bubble) you might want to play passively to increase chances of survival, but that probably only matters with a few places left. You can learn more about ICM if playing those situations accurately is important to you.
