Arrow February Made Me Shiver Low Content thread

Here's to hoping there's only good news on the doorstep this month.

The games on Bodog and Merge seem pretty good lately, especially Bodog. Ooops, sorry, Bovada. I see even $10/$20 PLO8 is going every now and then (probably thanks at least in part to Assani I'm guessing).

It is amazing to me though that they could turn out that supposedly "new" software, have such basic bugs (like not saving your preferences), and seemingly have done nothing to fix them. But then again, the Bodog software had the same crappy bugs forever and they never fixed them, so I guess I shouldn't be amazed.

Yeah, it does feel like the liquidity is starting to slowly improve.

So wsop 12 schedule is out. Seems I heard that there are other plo8 tourneys around the time of the wsop one(s). Anyone know where I can find more info about them?

Caesars had 2 or 3 Big-O's last year, and Binions/Golden Nugget had multiple events as well. Don't believe Venetian had a PLO8 last June but I think they have had them in their last 2 events. Probably wouldn't be the worst idea to PM Tommy and urge him on to make sure a PLO8 is on the sched. Think his SN is V_TD.

Those smaller series schedules don't come out until March if memory serves.

Re: February Made Me Shiver Low Content thread

Couple observations on WSOP schedule

-5k PLO8 reduced to 3k; probably a good thing WRT field sizes
-10k LO8 reduced to 5k; probably same audience
-All O8 events are really spread out date wise; not good for guys like me that go for 10-14 days max
-Heard rumors that Big O might appear but I doubt that was ever really likely

Obv O8 included in a bunch of mixed events (HORSE, 8 Game, 10 Game, O8, S8, etc)

Re: February Made Me Shiver Low Content thread

Can any of you in London give me ideas for lodging in August? We have tickets for some events and know we're coming. One day (I think it's 8/8) wife and daughter have 2 tickets to the equestrian finals. I'll be free and want to golf or find the Vic.

Would consider some kind of swap for condo time in Vegas during WSOP.

Help appreciated on all streets.

Thread title: ...with every bad beat I'd deliver?

Bad news on the doorstep. I couldn't make one more bet.

I can't remember if I cried, when I saw the low half was tied

Re: February Made Me Shiver Low Content thread

This conversation with one of the senior-aged regs in my Detroit 5/10 full kill game just epitomizes the thoughts of most older LO8 players.
Quote:
Her: That AKQJ10 just gets in there and raises all the time without anything, and sometimes he gets lucky.

Me: That's right! I like to build big pots.... i figure i may win a big pot or lose a big pot, but i'm gonna build it for someone.

Her: Yes, that's because you're still young and reckless. You'll learn.
I really need to follow Tommy Angelo and stop talking poker at the table, but it really doesn't matter. I can come very close to explaining my philosophy of the game -- getting a huge part of my edge by raising draws for value where my opponents won't -- and they don't care. They see me win, a lot, but refuse to put the two phenomena together.

It's just not part of their view of the world. In the O8 player's mind, the only reason to seek to put money in the pot is if you have a mortal lock in at least one direction. (And of course that usually means high, because you must be absolutely sure you're not being quartered. Betting and getting quartered is embarrassing!)

On a personal level i'm quite fond of my O8 crowd and have come to treat them like aunts and uncles, but.... my gosh, they are passive about poker.
