There is going to be a 100 rebuy PLO8 tournament on Tuesday at 5 PM, in case any of you in the LA area didn't know.

10k guarantee. You can buy in for one bullet of 2500 chips or double rebuy to 5000. 5k add-on after level 4. 30 minute levels. Should be pretty soft.

If the average poker player knew how to play it things would be different. Every single one of my poker playing friends that I have taught the game to have ended up liking it more than holdem. I'm not sure if that's because it's more fun or because it's easier to beat than holdem.

Most recreational players hear the name "omaha high low" and think it's way more complicated than it is. It's actually way easier than holdem, and you can just mindlessly gamble in more situations. If they only knew the degenerate possibilities this game offers...

Splitting pots is not fun for recreational players.

PLO is way more fun and requires more skill. Which is why I find it odd that PLO8 is more popular for sit-n-goes and tournaments.

Hi Kroe - was this part of a series or just some random tourney that came up? I would have been there in a second had I known about it. Any future PLO8s coming up or should I just check the Commerce website?

Hello. Yes, it was part of a series. The LAPC starts in January, there are going to be a few good ones. There is supposed to be a $240 PLO8, a $100 rebuy PLO8, and an $1100 PLO8/ limit 08.

Thats probably Why they are recreational players winning o8 players play to scoop not to split pots

Except "Splitting pots is not fun for recreational players" is simply not a true statement. (It might be true for some recreational players, but it's certainly not true for all).

It was so obviously untrue that it wasn't even worth refuting... except that you seem to have bought the false assertion.

And "PLO is way more fun" is also not necessarily true. I personally think any Omaha-8 is more fun than PLO. It is true, however, that PLO is a more popular game than PLO8, as evidenced by the greater number of tables and the larger participation in PLO forums than this Omaha-8 forum.

Does PLO require more skill than PLO8? I don't know. They're different games. I've played both. I enjoy both. But I prefer Omaha-8.

I do believe "winning o8 players play to scoop."
