Heading over for my first WSOP this year from Australia and was just wondering where the best PLO8 cash games are played during this time?
My time over there is within a tour so only looking for a few days worth of play.

Most of the action is Big O at the Rio followed by the Venetian, the odd time plo8 runs at both

I will second the Big O at the Rio. Unbelievable game every time I managed to get on.

that 5 card hi/lo right ? what stakes they play there ?

so do big o and plo8 run simultaneously? Which would one go for? I would imagine Big O plays even tighter because it is harder to get 5 card to play well together than 4. I am playing lots of plo8 online (all i play actually), and want to play some live during world series as well, I thought the games started at 2/5. Would 1/2 Big O or PLO8 even be played upstairs or too small a game?

I played a lot of 2/5 big o at rio this past wsop and it was incredible the hands people were playing. While that is always true in all omaha variants, I simply played the most straight forward strong o8 starting hands and made a killing.

is 1/2 plo8 even offered or is it all 2/5 and up? I play a lot of .25/.50 online and am a winning player, I think i can make a significant chunk in those wsop games. Can anyone with wsop cash experience elaborate some.

Well it varies. Firstly it all seemed to be 5-card, no 4. And when I got a seat in a "$1/2" game last year, as was on the list/screen, it turned out to be $5/5 when I got there. And the floor guy said basically - yeah sometimes they just agree to do that amongst themselves. So I think $1/2 rarely ever runs, most are $2/5, $5/5, sometimes with a straddle, and almost all big O.

all upstairs in pavilion i assume?

How is the play? fishy and crazy? or world class?

Well there isn't an upstairs or downstairs, but yes it's in the pavilion.
I can't really comment on the standard of play for it, but others did before me, above. As I didn't really play it, I just played FLO8 cash the last 2 years, and they were horrendous.

ok not upstairs, down the long convention hallway, sorry, Ive only been there once and was playing NL Holdem low stakes so I was in Rio main room, but i did walk to and look at amazon and pavilion.

So basically if I am beating .25/.50 plo8 online I should have the skill lvl is what everyone is saying. Just a matter of building up a large enough bankroll to start and praying I don't start on the wrong side of variance.

Yes, if you are a consistent .25/.50 plo8 crusher you should do well. Obviously there is variance as you mentioned above because they will show up with insane holdings but ultimately it is a great game that you should play.

Typically they run these games in the pavilion at the tables closest to the chip cage. There is a separate podium/floor for these games

If this is your first wsop be prepared to pay timed rake $6 every half hour

500 should more than cover u for the whole trip. THe 4/8 at orleans is very soft.

The 1/2 Big O at Rio, plays closer to 2/5 since there's a 5$ bring in... At least last year when I played - Haven't had a chance this year yet.

All of the above .. lol depends on time and who your playing - get a mixed bag. Couple times I've played have been pretty good - People willing to gamble, several drinking, etc..

the rio is $7 per half ne1 know what hte other rooms are? Venetian has been frunning it. I imagine downtown nuggett and binions will be running it when their toureys roll around.

^^^ I played some big O at the RIO and the $14/hr rake is nuts in addition there is no auto shuffler and half the dealers don't know the game. Also the players have been so btchy. In the 1-2 big O game the table card states its a $2 bringin, but people are use to the $5 bring in, so some demanded it be $5 while others wanted to play $2 bringin.

Everyone states they have played it both ways on different days. So the table finally agrees to do the $5 bring in and when some guy straddles to $10 everyone loses their sht stating they aren't going to play that high and blah blah blah, 10 minutes was spent on bickering before the cow bell to collect time went off. Besides that the games are good, but only for a hour or less, without chip runners most people that bust just leave and the table atmosphere has been terrible all three days I went, too many back seat dealers holding up the game to argue BS.

Some people keep saying $14/hr is not bad rake, but for who the venue? Getting 6 hands an hour sucks the big one, I heard the venetian big O game is better , but has anyone played it yet how is it?

PS I feel horrible for the dealers with the increased rake and no chip runners their tips have been dismal from what iv seen, iv seen a couple dealers go whole downs with no tips
