Re: ***August low content thread***
For the 2nd time in my life, I played line 1/2 PLO8 as part of aPLO/PLO8 mix.
I'm playing with $145 behind in UTG with Q Q A 9 and limp for $2. limp, limp, fold, limp, SuperAggro in HJ pots it to $15. CO folds, Good aggro in BTN (sitting on ~$5K) calls, blinds fold, I call, UTG+1 (solid) calls, fold, fold.
4 to the flop of;
Q 9 5
I immediately check, with the intention of getting the rest of my stack in on any bet, but it checks around
Turn card: 4
No more checking! I call pot, dealer replies with $70. I push 14 redbirds out, UTG+1 folds, SuperAggro HJ calls, Good aggro bets pot to $350. I happily ship the remaining $60 and Super Aggro calls. As the dealer is arranging the side pot, I lift my cards from the table to give my neighbors a sweat, and the both murmur, "NICE!"
River card: 5
FIST-PUMP and SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP the main pot of $435.
SuperAggro shows down 59xx for the side pot.
Otherwise, my PLO rounds generally saw me getting A234 type hands and unconnected middle to high junk in PLO8.

I take it a 'redbird' is worth $5. I assumed live players used poker chips rather than flighted animals, shows what I know........

$500 is the maximum buy-in. The man ran like the sun most of the time I was there, though he was already up a huge amount when I got there.

a NLHE hand: let's develop it into something beautiful
Who said I must post NLHE hands in the NLHE forums?
What if I don't want NL-heads to laugh at me?
What if I want O8 players' opinions?
Here it goes - maybe we can see how it applied to O8:
100bb effective stacks, folds to hero in the SB, hero raises to 3bb with A 3 , BB calls.
Flop (2 players, 6bb in the pot, 97bb behind): 2 7 K
Hero doesn't c-bet and instead check/calls a 4bb bet because:
(1) his nut low draw is worthless in this game.
(2) he can't play NLHE.
(3a) he's rarely called by hands he's ahead of (rare flush draws are an exception; random floats too, but it's opponent dependent, OBV)
(3b) he rarely folds hands that beat him (mediocre aces like AT might be an exception)
(3c) he doesn't get many worse hands to fold non trivial pot equity (it would usually be 4 outs tops)
Please choose and discuss. feel free to give a similar O8 scenario (just thinking about how this stuff applies to split pot 4-card game gives me a headache).
Ask questions if something is unclear. also ask questions if everything is clear, I need to get to 2000 posts soon...

Re: a NLHE hand: let's develop it into something beautiful
I think you can play this any way you want on the flop. I would go for a bet because I will cbet a ton on this board in general and with this hand we can go for a bet on the turn and the river( depends what comes and how much of a calling station BB is) And if you think we are called only by hands that beat us, many of those hands will fold to a turn bet.
Check call I don't like so much because we will have to make our hand in order to win this pot most of the times. After check I would much prefer raise so we can put pressure on BB.

Re: a NLHE hand: let's develop it into something beautiful
hero should cbet because ace high is frequently the best hand in heads-up and hero was pre-flop aggressor
hero can also call a raise with draws to the nut flush, pair of aces, runner-runner trips and runner-runner wheel as ways of making the high

Why should those of us that don't play NL have you taking up our O8 forum real estate?

Re: a NLHE hand: let's develop it into something beautiful
bet/3bet over his raise. we are the aggressor preflop and we can represent a very strong hand on this flop. same thing can be applied to plo8. if i can represent the nuts by raising someone then i am going to do it. here, i can most likely represent kq+ by 3 betting the flop (which is almost the nuts in a heads up pot bvb). if i get shoved on its an easy call and i have plenty of outs. If he calls the flop bet continue like you have it and triple barrel whether you hit or not.

Re: ***August low content thread***
Anybody here going to the WSOPC that starts this weekend in Biloxi? They have one FLO8 tourney. $250. Single day tourney. Non-ring event. Monday, August 13, 5pm. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/65...-20th-1226241/ I am hoping to go for a couple of days but I'm not sure about the tourney. I'll decide when I get there. Might just play cash if O8 is going.
