Club .50/1 6max - Free look out of BB w/ 9865ss, a bit lost from there...

Villain didn't seem terrible (compared to me at least, who is), but didn't seem like a super-strong player.

Poker Stars $0.50/$1.00 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo - 5 players
DeucesCracked Poker Videos Hand History Converter

Pre Flop: (1.5 SB) Hero is BB with 5 9 8 6
2 folds, BTN calls, SB calls, Hero checks

Flop: (3 SB) Q 7 3 (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, BTN bets, SB folds, Hero calls

Turn: (2.5 BB) 4 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

River: (2.5 BB) A (2 players)
Hero bets

Should I continue on the flop? Right to attempt x/r OTT?

Flop is a snap fold. The pot is tiny and you are drawing to 3 clean outs which are not even likely to give you a scooper even if you hit. Turn x/r is burning money. As played i donk the turn and call down if raised. Check/call is fine too i guess.

I would either directly bet this flop or check/fold.

How can you scoop this pot? What can you do to increase your chances of scooping?

I think that's what you should be asking yourself on the turn.

(If you can manage to push your one opponent out of the pot, you'll scoop for certain).

In general I don't think check/raising is the best way to push someone out of the pot.

Re: .50/1 6max - Free look out of BB w/ 9865ss, a bit lost from there...

from the end backwards:

b/c river is good. hero's unlikely to be scooped. many times he'd be calling with flopped set, aces up or two pair+live deuce and you scoop.

turn changes things. villian may have liked his hand after the flop but not after the turn (A4, set, two pair, clubs) and would check behind. i'd bet/call turn.
allowing a check behind is a disaster given board texture.

about what Buzz wrote regarding promoting to a scooper:
it would be nice, for sure. however, a more important consideration after the turn is extracting value from worse hands that would pay off and not missing value by allowing a check behind, for example...

flop call is way too light. what I mean is I can think of many better hands than yours after the flop, which i'd c/f. tiny pot, oop, bad hand. what are you trying to accomplish with this call?

preflop I don't like the check. I mean, raising would be awful, but I wouldn't just check, i'd check, telling myself - i'm gonna need a really special flop to make this hand look good!

Yeah I mean even something like 654x would be a *much* stronger hand on this board but even then I wouldn't be overly excited about my hand (although I would continue). Low straight draws that aren't to a wheel pretty much stink in omaha h/l.
