So, this is rather interesting in river. Cliffnotes:
1) 2nd nut low
2) Bluff-catcher high (two pairs)
3) Nuts for high hand are blocked
4) After opp reraises in the flop, his hands are rather twisted due to the
Usually this goes to the splitpot, but after a moment of though I think this more often wins whole pot from total bluff than loses to the scoop. Ofc. with fold we keep our stack in any case. Opponent is Russian player, just 8 hands history with VPIP: 38 and PFR: 25 (3-bet: 0) stats.
River: (t870) A (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG+1 bets t2315 all in, Hero calls t2315
Spoiler:
UTG+1: shows [2 8 7 3 ] (HI: a straight, Five to Nine; LO: 6,5,3,2,A)
HERO: shows [7 4 2 A ] (HI: two pair, Aces and Sevens; LO: 6,5,4,2,A)
UTG+1 collected 2750 from pot
UTG+1 collected 2750 from pot
I prefer to lead this as really we are representing the nut flush and have more fold equity by leading.
Hmm... good point. With betting first he'll have to make a difficult choice with many hands since calling leaves just about pot for him to play in the river, and ace of spades is rather good in any case. Maybe at the time I was expecting opponent to bet with too many hands in the turn.
chk/folding, bet smallish/folding and I guess shoving river are all better than chk/calling a shove after the turn was chked. Although I think shoving is prolly taking an unnecessary risk for this pot, this early.
i'd prolly bet turn/shove river but this is a good example of why you should only really be playing suited aces or at least suited cards with hands like this from EP.
i'd be pretty annoyed at myself to bust this tourney like that.
