I just push pre. Picking up the blinds (and any antes) is good. If we are called even better. You have to be comfortable pushing 15-20bbs.
Your strategy in these situations is to generally push on the equal stacks especially if they are overly nitty. Shoving over anyone daft enough to limp as well. However, you have the worst possible seat with BTN to your immediate left where it sounds as though you don't have much fold equity so you would need to tighten your range blind versus blind.
As you played it you have a SPR (stack to pot ratio) of roughly 2.5 postflop. You bet any reasonable amount and he flats, you are OOP on the turn with not many outs that improve your hand and he can play perfect poker IP. You will have less fold equity too in this situation and he is calling most turns priced in anyway. Checking is a no no with your SPR and for everything just mentioned.
Therefore as you played it, I push flop. Don't think there are many other options tbh.
