Was interesting to see that the 3k plo8 was changed to a 10 k this year. I wonder the reasoning? Id really like to play, never have played a 10k before. Anyone else goona play?

I wish I could since it'll likely be the sickest plo8 game of the year, but 10k too high considering most of all the o8 tourney buyins through the year are under 1k and the vast majority are under 100. Busting that one while being self-rolled is like months/year(s?) long tilt inducing kinda stuff. I don't think very many of the online o8 regs will try it, but huge huge GL if you do take that shot.

Might try for a stake though since the odds seem decent on it. I mean, there's some pretty -ev players that manage to get them for the holdem main event(idk why even). Maybe the huge prize pool makes holdem more attractive, or maybe most don't really consider o8 when it comes to that. Pretty frustrating though tbh...much more so after getting the FU from merge for "caliber of play".

Was trying to decide between this and the 10k plo. I'm thinking this we'll have about 300 runners as oppose to about 400 in 10k plo.

This is going to be a sick event for sure.
Good luck to those playing!!!
I am planning on playing as well. Might have to sell some though, as lotus mentioned 10k buy ins can crush your dreams
I'm super pumped, 50k in starting chips and a nice slow structure!! Maybe see one of u guys at the final table!!

400 seems a safe estimate for PLO.

PLO8 it's difficult to say, but my best guess:

< 150 disappointing
150-200 expected
200-250 fantastic
> 250 probably dreaming

or help make your dreams come true! :P

I understand though, last year was my first tourney > 1.5k.

I am 99% playing the PLO8. I will only play the PLO if I have good cash(es) before then and/or I sat into it.

Good luck!

God this is going to be juicy - if I wasn't about to go to grad school I would try and grind as much as I could until summer and sell for the rest if I was short. But let's be totally serious here, 10k is a lot of ****ing money and if I busted in sick fashion it would haunt me forever. Unfortunately I can only justify the 1500 this year with 150k in debt on the horizon - unless I bink one of those dammed jackpots on WPN. literally got 138.90 5 times in a row the other night, so I'm due for a million right?

Yeah I think AllinN is kind of accurate, though it might even get less than that. The PLO will definitely get far more, over 400. And I expect this to probably get around 100-200 runners.

How are the smaller buy-in omaha events? Worth playing? (Omaha hi as well)

Just like any of the other mixed game events. The answer can vary from "really tough" to "extremely juicy". All depends on table draw, which probably goes without saying. Overall they're pretty juicy though. 1500 horse is probably best value of the low limit mix game events.

Table draw has alot to do with it. Last year in the 3k plo8 there was a guy who thought it was holdem. The dealer told him since it was the first hand he could get his money back. He said ,nah ill just play it .
I have played the plo8s in the wsop quite a few times.
Sometimes you can get a brutal table where nobody busts for hours.

yea i had a rough 1500 plo8/bigO/flo8 last year. wCoop winner, live tv pro, live cash mix player i knew from texas, another live aggro asian o8 player i saw in 5/10plo8, one "donkey" and another tight player.

wasn't very fun.

But then there's the horse table i had years ago with guys calling multiple bets with pairs of face cards on 4th during the razz round. GL everyone who decides to play!

I probably ran worst in the Mixed O8 as well.

I'm not too worried about table draw, at least in the smaller BI events. It's the fish and/or aggros sucking out and hitting runner runner that I found to be most troublesome, but what can you do except GII good?

So who decided to play 10k plo8? I'm playing 10 PLO for sure, and about 75% to play plo8. Anyone else?

So you're missing the $1500 Stud then? I haven't decided for sure yet about the PLO.

I have them both scheduled. There's a nonzero chance I will skip the PLO but we shall see.

Opinions on toughness of field compared to 10k PLO? Easier, tougher, similar?

I would expect 10k PLO to have much bigger and at least a slightly easier field.
If I brick everything leading up to it, then not playing it.

Just looked at some of the 1500 and below tournaments since I have the chance to play them this year. All omaha & mixed. Are the structures less awful than they appear? Seemed like everything was 75-100 bb (big bets for a few) and much faster than I'd expect.

Guess it depends on what you were expecting. How many better-structured live MTTs are there for omaha & mixed? You can't really expect a $1-1.5k WSOP event to have the same structure as a $1-2k COOP event, because the BIs and fields are generally so much bigger and live play is slower, so these events already take 3+ days to complete. Just how much better would you want the structures? I think of a 1-1.5k WSOP event as equivalent to like a $100-300 COOP event.
