re: Unofficial Stars 18-man SNG turbo Thread

Here is an example of a hand on the bubble of a 18 man sng. I would like to hear your guys thoughts on how to play this hand or a similar hand in this situation.

Poker Stars, $13.89 Buy-in (200/400 blinds, 25 ante) No Limit Omaha H/L Tournament, 5 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

    BB: 10,657 (26.6 bb)
    MP: 7,783 (19.5 bb)
    Hero (): 4,258 (10.6 bb)
    BTN: 2,453 (6.1 bb)
    SB: 1,849 (4.6 bb)

    Preflop: Hero is with 6 3 A 4
    MP folds

In this particular hand both the SB and BTN were playing super tight. The BB plays loose preflop rarely folding his BB to a raise but rarely 3 bets and plays super passive postflop.

So how do you guys play this hand?
How do you guys play this hand if BB is an aggressive reg?
How do you guys play this hand if BB is an absolute maniac?

I almost never open limp in these at this stage and your stack size and I am probably not going to start here. The reason I especially don't here is because BB can just shove over the top regardless and force you to make an ICM fold because of BTNs and SBs stack size. This is why min raising is worse IMO, because he can make the same move and you have committed more chips. If you do min raise this is likely going HU with BB based on your description of villain (+ BTN and SB) but you have 20% of your stack in the pot and just 2 PSBs left. Not much maneouverability. I tend to play push fold here and in this spot I probably make a marginal fold. You have a pulling hand in a pushing spot.

That being said, with a pulling hand and everyone being so passive behind I don't hate a limp. But with 2/3 players behind being so tight passive behind why not shove instead? Well, it depends on how likely you see loose BB is pre. How likely do you see him just calling off your shove for half his stack?

This hand is more a function of stack sizes both yours, and those to act behind, than anything else.I don't massively alter what I would do with this in those scenarios you describe, except fault quicker!! You don't need to play this.

      Fold>Shove>Limp>Min raise

Meh...I always suspect the donk min raises (maily nits trying to get value or fish who have watched some pro min raise on TV with the nuts ), especially on this board. Nutsy hands (KT or TT) and only sometimes a weaker king possibly with some sort of straight/flush draw. Pot size and stacks dictate a flop decision (fold or shove) so I don't really advocate peeling. If you shove you are hoping he has a large part of his range towards random a king (k***) and even then your 55:45. Tough spot without solid reads, but I don't hate a fold. Or maybe I have just overcomplicated things and not incorporated wierd flush raises/bluff raises which make shoving easier.

Yep, I play the 18man turbos. I was playing mainly before Black Friday, after that I cashed out, and started to play again about a week and a half ago.

Btw, does anyone know, why did I lose all my notes?

anyone that would be interested in a profit bet?

        In General like:

1 week of 1/3/7 18man turbos on stars
most profit wins ( exl. rakeback and stuff )

bet size in some motivation range but doesn't need to be veeery high. say like 100-200 or maybe 300? whatever u wish.

I'd do this if I was free for such a long period of time. Maybe we can do this in the summer or something (assuming neither of us have moved on to bigger things in life).

guess that would make for a fun matchup

we could do this in summer, np. And yea moneywise:

it's really not important to me, to win money of of u or anyone that would take the bet, it's more about the motivation ( guess we could both make a lot more then 200 in a week dedicating ourselves )

i would probably join if a ROI clause is in it.(even so i run like xxxxx this year in the 18 man, plus doesnt help that sharkscope is missing 321$ of my profit this year alone for those)
there is no way i would even come close to your volume over a week.(i got a full time job and i`m a old man)
knowing u sickos,u would probably grind 1000-1500 s&g compared to my max of 200-300 s&g in a week.

        ps:at last i got a bop ticket again,haven`t won 1 now for 5 weeks.

wow i didn't know i suck that much so everyone want to play

yea manndl to me it's about volume ( motivation ). Playing u for better roi would just be kinda variance we would increase during the time of the bet.

Im looking for someone who is struggeling playing 100+ sngs/day cause of lack of motivation even though he/she is capabale to do so. I also want winning players only
( which all that of the interestees are ) and the bet should be affordable for both players but also be enough so ppl fight for a week

As u said: 1k-1.5k sngs/week playing with a 20% roi and an average buy in of 3.50 would mean a lot more money then the bet anyway ( for both ). So in the end it's a win-win-situation and don't forget about the braging rights on 2+2

All of the players that feel they wanna do it can PM me when ready. Since i know all of u, interested so far, for quite some time i'm sure it would be fun and there won't be issues about the money and stuff. When the bet is settled i would post the whole thing on 2+2 so ppl can sweat.

        Bring it on! ^^
