Hi,

I am trying to learn how to play OH8 SnGs and this thread has been really useful. So thanks to everyone who has contributed.

I am only playing the micros to get my head round things.

One aspect of the game that is really confusing me is what to do when I flop two pair. I can't help thinking that I am losing value no matter what I choose.

This is probably not the greatest example but it will hopefully show where I am coming from:

Poker Stars, $1.32 Buy-in (15/30 blinds) No Limit Omaha H/L Tournament, 8 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #12428802

    Hero (SB): 1,840 (61.3 bb)
    BB: 1,130 (37.7 bb)
    UTG+2: 1,500 (50 bb)
    MP1: 1,330 (44.3 bb)
    MP2: 4,730 (157.7 bb)
    MP3: 1,500 (50 bb)
    CO: 1,455 (48.5 bb)
    BTN: 1,515 (50.5 bb)

    Preflop: Hero is SB with Q A 6 5
3 folds, MP3 calls 30, 2 folds, Hero completes, BB checks

    Flop: (90) 6 A T (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, MP3 checks

    Turn: (90) 3 (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, MP3 bets 90, Hero folds, BB calls 90

    River: (270) 5 (2 players)
    BB checks, MP3 checks

The villains looked fairly solid 27/9 over 46 and 31/8 over 13 so in this example I was happy with the way I played. Maybe I should not have been in the pot but with the blinds so low I think it is always worth a crack.

The questions that I want to ask though are what factors would change the way you played this.

If you were IP and it had been checked round to you?
If you had a good low hand as well?
What would you have done with if it was top two you were holding?
Would you ever call a small raise with this hand/top two?
If the villains were manic donks how would you play this hand?

Sorry if this is really boring but I do think that nailing these spots can have as big an impact as traditional ICM decisions in the long run.

    Thanks for your help

Never fold here preflop. As far as what you should do on the turn just fold. At these buy in levels up until the blinds reach 50-100 your best bet is to only bet with strong 2 way hands.

Anyway hope that helps GL at the tables

not with 3 limpers. 150 dead money is over 10% of my stack. mostly only gonna get called in 1 spot and its nearly always gonna be a bad call

Thanks for that. That was my gut feeling but this is really useful feedback. I normally play NLHE so limping so much from the SB feels a little strange but it does make sense.

Would top two with a good low draw count as a strong hand to bet IP??

just keep in mind if u advance any further u will have to play against pros like bob, billy, juicy etc on a daily bases and against those, hobby players like u and me dont have the slightest chance.
best u can hope for is a tiny profit like i do.
but only if u are willing to work hard on your game.
