So anyhow, [name deleted] recopied part of his post into the sticky.

And the result was someone reported the post as spam.

Is it spam? (not clear to me).

What I meant by "why not just list it in the sticky:" was why not just list the site, as other sites are listed in that sticky? I don't see listing sites to play Omaha-8 at higher stakes (or, indeed at any stakes) as "spam." I see that as useful information... but maybe I'm wrong.

I'm interested in opinions.

Because I think that the poster probably gets a referral fee and wants people to sign up using a link he will provide that gets him paid.

An artist asked the gallery owner if there had been any interest in her paintings that were on display.

"Well, I have good news and bad news," the owner responded. "The good news is that a gentleman noticed your work and wondered if it would appreciate in value after your death. I told him it would and he bought all 10 of your paintings."

OK. That makes sense to me. And we don't want the forum itself filled with self promotions. For what it's worth, I'd prefer that anyone would just post the location of any site where they know Omaha-8 poker is being played.

On the other hand, what does it matter to us whether a casino keeps all the profit or gives back a finder's fee. You don't really think any money a casino saves will be passed on to its poke playing patrons, do you?

Would that it were otherwise, but I believe casino owners are purely profit oriented and extract as much in rake or playing fees as the poker playing patron will bear.

Don't get me wrong; we need and appreciate safe casinos in which to play, but why should we care if they give some back as a promotional fee.

Just sayin'... sorry if I seem jaded.

It's a good argument which there isn't really a good answer for. But some affiliates put more effort into helping players out than others or are simply in a better position to help. Having a list of the good ones would probably be best, and we have the Affiliates/Rakeback section here on 2p2 already which kinda does that for us. If there are a few good ones that happen to specialize in o8, you could maybe list them here somewhere if you think it might help.

Or on a less serious note, make one ourselves to promote o8 + our lil subforum and give the money back in o8 freerolls

I believe taking 1st place in a Freeroll and winning $6.87 is both a brag and a beat.

I actually ran up a WSOP NJ 1st place freeroll $20 into enough to pay for a trip to Costa Rica recently. Mostly playing PLO$25 and PLO$50. PLO8 action mainly nonexistant on WSOP NJ and 888 NJ.

Have not been on here in a while. I used to play o8 all the time but this game has basically died here locally. Is this game a dieing game?

also does anyone else seem to have an issue where posts are missing. My phone shows a spot for post 61 and 62 in this thread but there is nothing there.

I had high hopes when NJ legalized online poker but PLO8 is pretty much dead, unfortunately, so I stopped playing. Dabbled in some PLO here and there but it's not my thing. (Translation: did not make money) I was hoping that PokerStars PLO8 would take off like the old days (albeit on a much smaller scale), but it didn't happen, and there are too few players (all of whom are regs) to make it worthwhile.

A mod from another forum banned one of our posters, pokahguy. Since the ban also evidently deleted all pokahguy's posts, my guess is he used the "ban and clean" function that is supposed to be reserved for spammers. Posts #61 and #62 were not posts by pokahguy, but perhaps that was the effect of the ban on post numbering in this thread.

The posts in this thread that actually got deleted would have been #37 and #44 or #45, but since they're deleted, they no longer have post numbers.

Anyhow, maybe that's the explanation... something like that.

This trip is scheduled for March. I have gone before (2011) and it was possibly my favorite trip of all time. The local culture is deeply routed in nature and they take pride in the country. Main area to avoid is San Jose (a bit grimy perhaps), other than that Costa Rica has very low crime rates for Central America.

I rented a car last time to hit the national parks and will do the same in 2017. A very affordable experience. Round-trip tickets going for ~$400 from New Jersey right now (nonstop!). Ecolodge accommodations running approx $40/night

Ahhh that makes sense about the deletions. I thought something was wrong with my app.

I live in Pittsburgh and normally play at Rivers. O8 ran until cleveland opened. People have mentioned that a lot of the o8 players were from there. I do see it running there but 2.5 hours is a little much to drive for the game.
