I have been looking at some players LO8 results on HSDB and have noticed that many of them are breakeven to slightly losing players in this game. The most commonly played straight LO8 game is the 75-150 game on Stars where many of these players seem to play quite solid but their general results show otherwise, including what appears to be absurd variance.

My question is that given how close equities run in LO8, and given the rake, how profitable can it really be? I am sure other players will disagree strongly with me here but I am just curious how many people have a large sample size showing semi-consistent and profitable results in this game.

I would attach graphs from HSDB from the players I am talking about but I feel that would be an inappropriate thing to do.

I am anxious to hear some higher stakes players answer this.

I am small stakes where the players are generally awful, and the variance is tolerable.

At blinds of 150 and above, is not the goal to earn like 100 bucks an hour, or about 1BB/100 for skilled players? And that includes fleecing the occasional whale. Such a winrate, versus skilled opposition would be highly swingy, and a player would have to be real sure on their strategy to not respond to variance and make incorrect changes to their game.
