$350 buy in Limit Omaha 8 Tournament - LAPC
Level 11 or 12
Blinds: 1500/3000 Limits: 3000/6000
My stack: 19000

In this hand, an extreme short stack raises with 1k behind from early position.
I'm in the cutoff and look down at AK26.

I'm thinking that even though he is in early position and should have a strong range here generally he's so short that he could be doing this with a number of hands involving an Ace, that don't necessarily include AK + A2. Even though my hand is a badugi, I still like it and decide to 3bet to try and isolate.

Regardless if this play worked or not, is this a good move? Is this a good type of hand to 3 bet/isolate the all in stack or should we wait for a suited Ace/stronger low hand to make moves like this? Any input on the play is appreciated

Well you should definitely 3 bet any hand you are going to play in this sport. Whether you are ahead or behind the short stack's range matters only marginally compared to the overlay you get from the blinds folding much more often.

To add to this situation, I now have 10k left after this move and big blind caps, leaving me in a terrible spot.

Is there any way we can get away from this with half our stack committed? I don't think so and I didn't think so in the moment, just went with it.

YOu need a really good reason not to 3b AK2 behind a single open. It's super rare not to. NO exception here - on the contrary it's more important to iso here than in ordinary situations to lower chances of getting scooped.

You don't say how close you are to the bubble or what the average stack is.
Absent an enormous ICM/bubble factor, you just need to go with this.
