Hi guys - first post, trying to get stronger at this game. This is a cash game 2/4 online 4 players seated.

My main questions are as follows:

1. Do I 3 bet pre?
2. Is my turn check/raise correct or spewy?
3. How is my play in remainder of hand?

Hand: 3s Jh Ac 9c

UTG raise
Dealer Fold
SB (ME) Call
BB call

Flop: Kc9h4d

Me Check
UTG bet
Me call
BB fold

Turn: Kc9h4d 5c

Me Check
UTG bets 4
Me Raise 8
UTG Call

River Kc9h4d5c Qc

Me bet
Call

He showed KsAh6d3d

Thanks guys!

Depends.

First thought: 3-betting pre will turn the game into more of a luckfest. That's probably to your advantage if you're less skillful than your opponents.

Second thought: If 3-betting enhances your enjoyment of the game, then go ahead and 3 bet.

Third thought: For me, whether or not to 3-bet depends on the effect my 3-bet will have on my opponents, but I don't usually 3-bet. If one or more of my opponents is 3 betting pre, I either decide to enjoy gambling or I leave the game.

Fourth thought: 3JA9 is not a great starting hand, but it's playable. I like a call here better than a 3-bet because a 3-bet has a better chance of knocking out BB than a call. With a nut club draw, I like more players seeing the flop... and your starting hand lacks high card strength for heads-up play.

Both.

Your river bet seems correct to me.

I wonder what UTG holds for his pre-flop raise and continuation bet... or if he thinks he has a fit with this flop, I wonder what his "fit" is.

Turns out he has a mediocre (but playable four handed) starting hand and flops top pair... what I'd consider a mediocre flop fit. Looks to me like UTG is very (probably overly) aggressive.

I'd call this a semi-bluff raise. I don't think you have favorable odds to initiate fresh money into the pot.

Raise pre seems super standard short handed, there is a very good chance we have the best starting hand and we don't want to let bb see a flop cheaply

As played, turn check raise is normal - we get good value from worse hands and are never dead vs better.. any line not involving fold here is viable it all depends on how we view our opponents

Looks fine to me. Turn is debatable, but I don't mind your play at all.

Me neither, but given what villain showed down on that River, I'd probably make a note to not try it again very often (even though he can easily call here to pick off a hand like A765 that xr turn w/ OESD + mediocre low draw).
