I remember those guys lol. Prey lasted the longest I think, but didn't survive the merge grind very well and pretty much quit about 2 years ago I'm guessing...or maybe only plays bovada only now. He was fun to play against and put in a lot of volume, really helped in keeping the sngs active.

LimpDitka occasionally plays a little bit of smaller buy-in mtts still and of course the seasonal events across different sites. There was an Ayers guy who tried grinding for a lil while, idk if it was same but he never really could gain any traction. And lastly, DYG is still MIA or lurking under a diff name these days.

Was that actually prey because he really didn't impress on merge if memory serves. Was quite a while ago though. Hard to recall how he played on stars as well, feels like a lifetime ago ;o

But as you look how much people talk about stuff i have achieved or results i had, it all close to bull****. If somebody say i am breakeven over 24000 MTT , i mean come on it so random, how can you not call that bull**** ?

Back then there was a good crowd of regulars and fun, big field mid-stakes MTTs. Some of the other names I stumbled across via OPR: JoeMamasNuts, RunninBear, Phillipito, Cincy'sFinest, Fresh43, TTheo, Ceramikon, OmahaDoug, Freak, 1SexyCat... I remember TakeItDown and Microtastic... MattydaCobra and AJB... those already mentioned (along with some who still play, like ILoveClocks and billygstar) and a ton more that I don't recall atm. I never got the same vibe post-BF, except maybe the $16.50 RE or $2.20R w/ 10xAO... or turbo nights. I'm not saying the players were better then, but there were more good players, because the fields were bigger (as were the prize pools), and the tourneys were fun while having good structures (seemed more of an either/or post-BF).

Yeah I remember all these guys. And I agree there was a larger number of good players but there were also a larger number of very bad players at midstakes and weak fish. Today all the donkeys will just gamble(as they should) and variance is much higher. Microtastic and fresh43 were 2 of the better players from those days. And ilovecocks but I remember he moved to PLO but I guess he came back to O8.

They would be up there with todays best players I would say if they kept playing as they were aggressive and had a very good understanding of the game.

If you binked a $22 FO or a $10 r back then on FTP or stars you would be looking at 1.2k +. I always ran better on FTP and had over 80% ROI with 30k profit there and stars always ****ed me with high variance even back then.

And yeah they were more fun...lots of good banter and as soon as BF hit it was so dull playing against the eastern euro players. As terrible as they were. But they would all just gamble and and even though it felt like a should massively increase ROI that wasn't the case.

Ahhh good ole days.....+ kicking about Australia and Thailand was better than Budapest but the ridic times got harder and harder to keep playing.

I agree with you on all counts. The combination of much smaller fields and much higher variance players turned fun, deep tourneys into mostly donkfests.

Another player was SirScoop, who really rocked the $33 NL and later binked the $1.5k PLO8 at WSOP. Kroko-dill, Slavik_Krs, A_Ivanovich, etc. played more high stakes I think?

Kroko dill is an all round mtt crusher. As much as it hurts to compliment a Russian player Yeah sirscoop is/was good....slavik I still battle with now and then in Omaha and mix game weeklies. He massively slowrolled me in an 8 game hand which was tilting but then I was chatting to him in the Omaha hi weekly...which I final table bubbled....seems to be a habbit with me lately failing to close. Anyway he seems ok guy.
