wtf is your stars name?
Is the series really worth it in terms of hourly? I estimate I'd need to play at least $3k in buyins a day to make it worthwhile and that seems like a bit of a ballache and a significant financial investment.
Do you talk much with Adam Owen and Kashmir Uzi (I think they are friends from seeing them hang around in Prague but i really have no clue)?
It is really **** as a tournament player that I see your results from this year and just automatically assume luckbox :P Do you think you have ran good in your poker life so far? In the WSOP?
Sick to see an English crusher, congrats.
Thanks.
Well
now I'd say that yes, I've definitely ran good in my poker life so far, and obviously especially good in the WSOP.
(You can see my results from last year too, but if it makes you feel better, my first year of the WSOP in 2014 I bricked everything.) I think online I've run around near-ish expectation now after SCOOP. (ran really badly in COOPs until then and eh in cash.)
Yeah I'm good friends with both of them. And yeah they are good friends. I've talked a ton with Adam, not much with Uzi.
All 3 of us had a couple of nuts Vegas nights/mornings this year. Those 2 both enjoy a good old degen sesh
.
I've put a lot of work into NL SD 2-7. (Quite a bit with Adam.) It's one of my better games at this point (and especially is vs the fields).
Yeah I think a GTO solution can be reached relatively easily in quite a few spots, but there's still definitely some room for creativity etc.
Well it depends exactly what you want out of the series. If it is only about the money, then yes it may be more +EV to just stay at home and grind online.
Yes, it obviously is a huge financial investment either way.
Personally I view it as many things. For one thing money, for another thing, if there's a chance to bink huge then it's amazing, and can likely be life-changing. Another thing is just the prestige and glory of it factors into it a little. It's the f'ing World Series, what better place to bink something?
Also there are just things like the social aspect of it that I enjoy. Like meeting friends that you haven't seen in a while, as well as potentially meeting a bunch of new poker players, ones that you admire etc. And obviously everyone is together in one place. (Although granted there can be some social downsides of it.)
You can also potentially view it partly as a holiday - as I did my first year to justify some of the expense. For example maybe spend a couple of extra days there, sight-seeing, relaxing in the Sun, going out with friends or whatever you want.
