Fold or Bet Flop? Fold or Bet Flop?

02-03-2017 , 12:04 PM
(WARNING: newbie question)

One LAG limps at UTG. One loose passive (LP) limps along at MP. Folded to Hero at SB with AdKdKc9h who completes.

Flop: Qs3s3c

Shall Hero lead out?

Spoiler:
Hero checks. BB and UTG check too. LP bets. Shall Hero fold?

Since its O8 a lot of people will be playing low cards, so the chances of someone having a 3 are more likely. If you bet and are called, it won't be easy on the turn.

I think check folding is fine. If you do check call, if villain fires turn you'll have to fold, since if he doesn't have a 3, he'll be worried you do and so he prob won't bet.

So check folding is fine. If not, check call flop, check fold turn. If he checks back turn, depending on the board you could consider betting for value. But overall not too much value in this spot.

If you're not already beat any spade will freeze you. Even if you have the best hand, you will get outplayed often enough to make you lose money.

In position, another story.

all you wanna see in this spot is a K.. and no other low card.
based on this, based on the stack sizes and players, position, it depends of the situation for the next actions, but a check call seems ok to me if your in LP in EP if theres some action with players behind you a fold to a bet seems solid lol.

You will often play vs A2XQ A3QK , however, if everyone plays as expected it would be boring, so raising could be funny if you have like 500 BB vs 100 BB stacks , you can crush the souls in case you hit the K VS A3 A23 etc , for the thrill

Fold is good, its very common for at least one opponent to have a 3 here, we aren't ahead often enough to really want to get involved, even when we are ahead we are quite vulnerable / villains can backdoor low

There is more of a case for calling against opponents who play very straightforward and or passive on the turn but for a newer player like described sticking with the simple line of x/fing is better
