3 Days Event #32: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Mix
Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Big O

I might try and make this one after a leisurely drive from Seattle through the Grand Staircase Escalante and whatever else might be "on the way"

Now to keep an eye out for Binions, GN, and PH for other things to fill in the calendar.

It's in the dealer's choice, right?

Personally I think NLO8 works best as a hyper and actually works better than PLO8 for an O8 hyper. However, deepstacked NLO8 is a weird game. A very interesting game indeed but the number of NLO8 events offered in WCOOP and SCOOP are to the point of ridiculous. Just because it's a popular game on Stars doesn't mean it deserves five slow deepstacked events. Want do you more experienced O8 players think in terms of how well NLO8 plays deepstacked? I'm sure you'd all salivate over an NLO8 bracelet event just because a lot of recs and bad regs would enter thinking, oh it's NL, bust be easy, and punt off full stacks.

No. It isn't in the dealer's choice.

And yes, obv I think it would make a great WSOP event, maybe as a re-entry.

Yeah would have to be re-entry and probably a fairly short stack with a low buy-in. There's already wayyy too much deepstack nlo8 online lately though.

Hmm what's worse though, deepstack nlo8 or 6-max plo8?

I would say there is a larger player pool of players that dont have the option tto play nlo8 than do... If it is only on stars then most of the world doesnt have access to nlo8.

I played $240 NLO8 tournament last summer at Planet Hollywood last summer and it was one of the most fun tournaments I've ever played. I had pretty much no big bet O8 experience at the time and somehow luckboxed the final table. It is a very interesting poker variant and I'd love to see more tournaments.

NLO8 turbo especially seems like a very easy event to luckbox and thus is great for poker as there is still much skill but it's very fun and can give the recs a good time and better chance at short term success. Also letting them buy into event bigger tournies. So do $1500 NLO8 then make it so the top finishers can hop into the $10k. Or at least start with a $2500 like a lot of the new trial tournies are this year.

Very true. fwiw, 888, ACR and Ignition runs a couple NLO8 MTTs daily, but I have yet to see one live (that $240 Planet Hollywood event sounds awesome, would love to check it out).

When I went to Vegas last month, it was hard to find FLO8. The casinos at the strip were mainly spreading 1/2 to 5/10 NL and the occasional PLO game. The Bravo Poker App showed that The Orleans had some 4/8 to 8/16 FLO8 running, but its so out of the way from the strip.

I think a $1k or $1500 turbo would be a good trial tournament. I still think this will be a tough task ahead of us. We're trying to create a paradigm shift where for us to gain any traction, other casinos have to participate also. If WSOP is willing to take a leap of faith and trial this, this would be a huge step to seeing other games similar to the $240 Planet Hollywood event.

My arguments in favor of running NLO8 over PLO8 in the past were:
-no need to calculate the pot (easier for the rec player to sit down and play)
-less chopping of pots due to more pots ending before showdown. You will likely see more showdowns once stacks get shallower, but this shouldn't be a problem if WSOP has their more experienced dealers at this (late) stage of the tourney.

The fact that there are few live nlo8 tournaments shouldn't even keep the ESPN from doing one. How many razz tournaments do you see, let alone mixed triple draw lowball. A game doesn't need to be super popular to put it in the wsop. Putting it in will make it popular!

Are you nuts? Deep stack NLO8 is awesome. And I prefer 6-max PLO8.
I very much disagree that if it's to become a WSOP event that it should be a short stack tournament.
Though yes, a low buy-in initially.
(Though this is obv theoretical and hypothetical.)

I was surprised to see no standalone Big O event at the WSOP this year.

At least it's getting more representation (part of Mixed O8, DCs, and Big Bet events). We could see a stand alone Big O. We could also see a Mixed PLO soon (PLO & PLO8... perhaps Big O too, like at Venetian last year).

What I wouldn't expect anytime soon (but I think are worthy) would be NLO, NLO8, and Courchevel. I think PH is the only place in LV to have run a decent NLO8 event.

What about O8 cash games during the Series?

Are there any good midstakes, ie 15/30 or 20/40 running regularly..?

Polar opposites I guess. I suddenly never want to play against you, either way up or way down

Stand alone wsop big O would be nice.
I would also like to see the wsop omaha mix to be
a round of plo8, nlo8, and big 0. Eliminate the limit o8.

Lol, limit O8 would never get eliminated from an O8 mix. It's by far the most popular, especially in Vegas

Its a longshot i know.
Limit 08 is well represented in the series.
Imo a big bet/pot limit mix is just what the dr. ordered.

Like Hero said, they're not going to eliminate LO8 from Mixed O8.

They did add a 2.5k Big Bet event, which includes PLO8 & Big O as two of the seven games.

I would guess the next to be added would be either mixed PLO (probably just PLO & PLO8) or a Big O tourney.

Down the road, maybe NLO8 gets in the mix at least.

I doubt Courchevel will ever be included, which is a shame IMO.
