Calculating our Equity at table? Calculating our Equity at table?

I have been playing some 5 card PLO8 and working on a system to quickly get to estimated equity for my hand or an opponents hand before deciding what to do.

What do you think of this? Or anyone have something better?

You know in non/split pot games, there was the rule of 2 and 4 where you multiplied outs times 2 or 4 on the flop or turn respectively to find the percentage of time you make your hand.

For hands with no made low

I count projected scoop outs first and multiply X 2 on flop and X 4 on turn.

Then add equity for high by counting outs and multiplying X 2.5 and 1.5 on the turn.

And for low, I have been counting outs and multiplying 1.5 on flop and .5
For hands with made low already,

scoop outs x 2 or 4 +

low outs x 1 or 2 +

high outs x 1 or 2

Of course, you have to factor in discounting some outs to take into account, other players hands, splits, etc,

Anyone see a problem with this as a starting point to project equity while at table? (ie before discounting)

I should have said for hands already made, I just do it in reverse and count the outs that will counterfit us or beat us and subtract that percentage from 50% to get our equity for that half.

I haven't played enough PLO8 to have many of the spots memorized.
