Thank you for these links! I was not aware of these posts. The articles I was referring to were published more recently in the magazine (not the Omaha/8 forum); Mason explained why they are no longer available. However, I will enjoy revisiting Buzz's thoughts on Omaha through these posts. Much appreciated, sir. He had a uniquely thorough way of analyzing this game.

Thank you, Mason (and Bobo too).

It feels really strange. Truly end of an era. I, like many, never had the chance to meet Buzz in person. He always came across as a warm, witty and generous human being and he will really be missed.

The game may have moved on but he indeed moderated the forum with decorum and fairness.

RIP Buzz.

I never knew Buzz personally, and as such had no idea he was anywhere near the age he was, so this was very surprising to read. I always thought of him as one of the best posters in the strategy threads on 2+2. He held himself to a standard of posting that we should all live by, and often his reply to a thread left it meaningless for anyone else to reply. I will miss his knowledge, patience, kind demeanor, and ability to treat every post with the same level of sincerity.

RIP Buzz

RIP Buzz

Throughout the several years I have roamed this section I would have to say he was always very polite in all his posts as well as very thorough.

People in the forums could be trying to argue or get stupid and he would handle it with class with his reponses. He definitely was one of the good guys!

I haven't posted much here since Black Friday, but I just noticed this thread and wanted to give an RIP to Buzz. Lots of good memories playing Omaha8 and this message board (and Buzz by extension) were a big part of that.

Oh my gosh.... I haven't been following this forum lately, just subscribed threads, and I had no idea until a friend mentioned it at a live table last night. May he rest in peace. Condolences to his family and friends.

Buzz, your contributions to this forum were great and will not be forgotten. I hope we made you feel valued while you were with us. Thank you, Frank, my friend.

Ha, we academics do like to write at length.

Appreciate the tip as I'd like to learn a bit more about his non-poker life. Hopefully this doesn't feel too inappropriate:

Little bit about a 1997 heart attack: https://cdnc.ucr.edu/cgi-bin/cdnc?a=...9971029.2.17.1

He also had a LinkedIn but doesn't seem publicly accessible. I may look more in the Google results later.

I met Buzz at a few 2+2 parties. I always approached and thanked him for all his wonderful replies and private messages. He helped me look at the game in a whole new way and shared a lot of his knowledge in such a generous way. I play mostly PLO8 and BigO but I learned pretty quickly that LO8 is where we can keep games going and that is what I care about. I am very sad to have been away from this forum for a few months and the first post I saw was a shocker.

RIP Buzz. I wish I can repay you for all that you have done for me.

Stayed with him that night, and then each year I contacted him ahead of time and arranged to share a room for the 2+2 party. He'd usually wait until traffic was quieter, leave LA late at night, and show up in LV at 2 or 3 in the morning. He was a night owl like me, and we had many late night chats. Most days, he'd be off somewhere to play Omaha while I did other things, and we'd usually cross paths back at the hotel room at some point in the evening. Met him down in LA one year as well; he took me to see a couple of the poker rooms there, and we had a picnic lunch with some friends of his. I think he also joined us when I met some other 2+2ers there one night including LFS and Private Joker, IIRC.

Buzz had lots of health issues and big dietary restrictions as he certainly wasn't a young man (young at heart, though), but he didn't let them slow him down. Really great guy; he'll be missed.
Bobo, was that Buzz that played with us at the Triple-board Omaha Low-River Wipeout games at the 2+2 Vegas parties? Seems like a guy I met playing there, from the various Obit tributes here. We used to talk some old-guy Internet poker stories! RIP

Most likely yes. That's where I met Buzz.
