so i'm UTG+1 with Ac2c46 in an online PLO8 tournament. blinds are 50/100. I have exactly 30 BBs. I limp. folds to button who raises to 400. he has 41 BBs. SB then makes it 1400. SB is chip leader at the table with 60ish BBs.

fold call or raise? what are the merits?

Run some hot and cold equities.

if you fold it feels nitty. but you're also giving yourself another opportunity to play a pot where you can either find a better shipping hand preflop (AA, AKWx, etc)* or actually see a flop which allows you to improve your equity dramatically for when you are ready to ship.

conversely, calling for half your stack then having to fold sometimes feels pretty nasty. i mean if that's the case i'd rather just raise AI pre.

and then if you raise AI pre, then you're basically locking in your equity in a spot where you'll never be a huge favorite HU, and if you're 3-way the times you have an equity edge it won't be overpowering or anything.

so call me a nit but i fold here in a tournament. prob just ship in rebuy tho

This is super close because you are suited to the ace and have some counterfiet protection

Obv we dont want to raise, if we play we want to call and pull the button in. Fold or call is close. But its always a good idea to pitch your bad A2 hands to heavy action EP. This one is far from bad but its not great

Really hard without more info on villains, if either have aggro tendencies its hard to justify a fold

Ran some sims and I really don't think hero should fold, just calling so we can get away from awful flops and we don't mind if btn plays

Yeah I think shoving is nonsensical, as we can correctly fold on say HHH-flops. I don't think folding is bad, but calling indeed probably wins some chips. I have no idea if that is enough to make this into a call, though.

I might ship it if the hand had a K instead of a 6, like Ac2c4K. Then you have big slick for high. A246 looks a little weak on scooping without a flush. I would fold due to the position, getting to wait for the same hand strength in position later.

Oh, and I consider an utg limp to be the same as a check in the dark, deferring your preflop decision to be last instead of first. Thus you get to fold exploitively here.

button was new to the table. SB had just tripled up with a trashy KQxx hand.

I thought about folding because of all the reasons stated here. I don't close the action and unless I flop 35x or 2 low clubs very hard to continue because a pot bet puts me all in.

but...

I decided to call anyway because I'm a donk and button calls as well. flop came KKT no clubs. SB bets pot I fold and button folds.

next hand I'm all in with AA34 nut spades pre and flop came 449. I lose to AK99

Sounds like you played it perfectly both times, according to the players much better than I am. I am a tad bit on the nitty side of things.

I'm not ever finding a fold here. Call to bring along the 3rd player, Puke fold facecard flops and just GII with any decent flop.

I don't play PLO8 nor tourneys often at all, so forgive me if this is a dumb question:

Is open limping this hand advisable here?

I would not have a limping range from UTG+1.

If it's a micro, limp and then probably all-in. If it's higher stakes, limp and fold.

If we just flat the 1400 are we folding to all in shoves on flops such as:

3 J 9 with one club

6 J 10

2 8 10

Absolutely. It's a perfect pull hand.
