we are 3/3 in $22 PLO8 MTT on ACR,

stacks are as follows with 2000/4000 blinds and no antes

Buttton 85K
Small Blind 120K
38k BB, Hero

with payouts

3rd $189
2nd $266
1st $430

our image should be tight and foldy but ICM aware, went to showdown once with ragged aces whole fnal tbl.... Small Blind has walked hero once 3 handed and he opened and folded to our 3 bet once before 5 handed, so he is not a maniac... Button is a pretty good Reg and not giving his money away either so we will have to pick a spot to gamble soon.

anyway, onto the hand, button folds and small blind pots to 12K, Hero has the AJ96 what should I do here?

Don't worry, you were right to shove. Just UL to run into it.

Call, no need to shove when we are behind a reasonable range here

So... with under 10 BBs, you want him to call off 1/3 of his stack pre then possibly fold for the rest on the flop? Sounds awful to me. You'll also probably end up folding to his auto shove too often on "bad flops" when in reality you'll have enough equity to call off getting 2-1 and may even be ahead with AJ high or A6 low. Snap shove IMO.

Sometimes, the responses in these threads blow my mind. This is a pretty trivial get in spot (and im not knocking the op). If you are folding here, he should just pot like 95% of SBs because you are folding wayyyyyyyyyy too much. Now if you are 2nd in chips its a little different, but being in last its a pretty easy get in.

Yeah waiting for a perfect hand is not optimal. I agree shoving is the right play, if you are playing to win. But to each their own.

Thanks for the input all. I ended up shoving this and was shown AK95 and busted.. so kind of second guessed myself..

Onto the next one

That I do agree with.

I'd much rather get my chips in first with an inferior hand to this one than VPIP here with this hand when somebody already showed strength.

I guess I could kinda see flatting if big stack has been playing a lot of flops somewhat fit or fold. We got just enough left over for a decent flop bet. Pretty much never folding anything ourselves though.

But yeah a fairly distant 3/3 on the BB and under 10bb in chips...just ship it in pre against most people and don't worry too much about the actual results, just try to focus on finishing up your other games the best that you can.

Folding is probably the worst of the 3 options by a bit unless big stack has been playing extremely tight for some odd reason. Even then idk lol.

I looked at your hand ten times and was 5/5 shove or fold. I was thinking make the 6 a 5 and the Jack a queen and I was in but either way it woulda been bad. That was a tough spot but I probably would have gone with it. Even the 9 being a ten would have made it easier for me. Oh well, next time.

Couldnt have said it better myself. I would fold you still have plenty of chips, especially with no antes. I think can find a better spot or like lucius mentioned or be the initial raiser with even an inferior hand.

I don't know about that here. The only time he has position he is giving odds for calls by stacks that can afford to call one pf raise. Sure, in a vacuum that sounds good, but the stack sizes are bad for that. Just my opinion.

at least you have a good chance of taking the pot uncontested though. in this situation there's no chance of that.

in this situation you are basically being asked if you want to get it in or not; imo, wait. you never know, the other two might do something stupid and knock the other guy out and you move up a spot. or you might pick up an actual good hand/button steal hand.

dammit, this is why limit poker is better.
