3 handed 1/2 PLO8 on bovada, villain has $175.35, i cover.

Hero is Button with ATJ5

Hero raises to $6, SB calls $6, BB calls $6.

Flop is T 6 3

SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $11.22, SB calls, BB folds,

Turn 9

SB checks, hero checks

River Q

SB bets $40.44, Hero folds.

Looking for thoughts on my line here. Thanks!

Probably call as it's vs the sb. More likely to fold if it was vs the bb. Sb has fewer JK and J8 combos in his range (which would normally be all that he is betting full pot OTR with), and you have a J blocker.
Particularly after they called flop they don't have many nut combos, it has to be specific things like JK45, JK42hh, or maybe like TTJK or AKJxhh etc.

Dunno if villain is as polarized as Hero Value expects, but I'd still call the river (due to J-blocker).

would like calling river a lot more if we didn't have the Ace of Hearts in our hand.. In game I always call but river seems more of a sigh fold really.

What about raising the river?

I don't think second pair is enough to call with and I also think there's definitely hands that the opponent could hold which he bluffs with which actually beat jacks and that he has these hands more often than KJxx or J8xx. Even if he is value betting less than a straight a raise might get him off it because he should know that you won't have anything less than a straight way more often than not (i wanna pull a figure out of my arse and say 95% of the time or the like).

All comes down to the read on your opponent. Does he bluff?

If you can't raise with confidence of your read then I think folding>raising>calling.

If you did raise however, I wonder what the best sizing would be? Would $100 be enough?

I think checking the turn is completely fine although the merits of betting are obvious, too.

I also somewhat disagree with Lucius's analysis. I don't really see the point of raising vs this sizing with 2nd pair + single straight blocker without any reads in a presumably weak Bovada 1/2 game, just because I think calling is +ev against most villains. They simply are too polarized (their draws miss, they panic and bluff). I don't think they have many bluffs that beat AT (maybe exactly JJ/KK?). Against a tougher opponent I begin to like raising. 100 is a good sizing imo.

I'm still leaning towards this being a river fold, as played. I can definitely see arguments for betting turn, i'm still torn between checking and betting there.

I'm not sure i'm +ev raising river, it's an interesting thought but i don't see myself ever making that move in game. (Not a ton of reads, sessions are never very long with the same people and players are anonymous).

Me checking turn ratchets up the SB's river bet % quite a bit, but i think it's -EV to call on this river given his bet sizing here.

I think if i check turn i've effectively given in on a river card like this.
