Trying to evaluate my strategies in Vegas Trying to evaluate my strategies in Vegas

So had a good poker run in Vegas and won $120 profit at the $1/2 blind tables with $100-300 buy ins. But besides the money, I tried out some new strategies and won some big hands from catching people's bluff and calling them. I just want to share some few examples and evaluate them because I want to try implementing strategies that will help me be in the favor to win.

Okay, so there is one scenerio where I was in the lead and I raised $17 with an AQ before flop. Everyone folds, but 1 guy calls and the board comes up 3-3-2. From there, he raised me like $30-40 on the flop and just from that raise I felt he didn't have it because it seemed with that kind of bet he was trying to get me to fold rather than call. So I went with my instinct he was bluffing because he was raising to high if his objective was for me to call and he was staring me trying to be intimidating because he thought I was young and a noob. Plus, with a $17 raise, it would not make sense for him to call with low cards. So I ended up winning a huge pot with an Ace high and he didn't show his cards. I took the entire table that I caught his bluff and won big with just an Ace high. Then the lady next to me was surprised I had the guts to win a huge pot only with an Ace high and not let that guy make me fold because she thought I was new as she was answering some of my questions I had. The entire table were older people 40-50 years old and I was the only guy in my 20s, so they thought I was new because I asked questions about how the game operates in Vegas. But at the end of the night, I took everyone by surprise that I could win money from people who have more poker experience than me, especially winning big from a guy who tried to bluff me to fold.

I also won another hand when I had the three of a kind when the flop came around. I had a 5 in my hand and the board comes up something like 5-5-7. Even though I had the 5 for the three of a kind, I acted in disgust on purpose. So I made a wimpy $5 raise in hopes some guy would re-raise me or they would all fold and accept no one was going to play me. And some young college aged kid who seemed kind of cocky smiled jokingly and re-raised me to $15. So I put him all in since with a raise of $15 he seemed more committed to playing his cards. And he called with only a pair in his hand and I guess he believed my act that I did not have the three of a kind until he called me.

Jet-

You should visit the live low stakes no limit holdem forum. It is found under the no limit holdem forum----lot of questions like this there, but you'll want to read a few posts to see how the questions are asked before posting.

IMO - 1st hand, you got lucky and/or had a good read on the villain
IMO - 2nd hand, there are better lines to take here; most folks won't call a shove in that spot, but some villains are terribad (especially in Vegas) and it sure is nice when the line you took works. The regs in the local tribal casinos I play in would roll their eyes and fold 100% in that spot.

Good luck
