A couple of years ago, DS did a piece on the 8 biggest mistakes in poker. Anyone know where I can find it?

More like twenty-five years ago. It is an essay in David's book "Getting the Best of It", which is still published by 2p2 and available from their trusty sidekick Conjelco.

doc--

It's actually the 8 [only] mistakes in poker. It's written about limit poker, so he enumerates all the ways one action might be replaced by another (e.g., checking when you should bet), gives a quick diagnosis of some broad concepts generally involved in that sort of situation, and then gives some examples.

It's one of the best articles ever written about poker. I imagine that today very many poker players would be capable of writing such a thing, but it remains quite worth reading. If I were teaching a course on poker for beginners or new-ish intermediate players, it would be one of very few articles I'd be tempted to put on the syllabus.

The article used to be linked somewhere from one of the main 2+2 site pages. No idea if that's still the case. Googling "The Eight Mistakes In Poker" might get you somewhere (I haven't tried).

All my best,

Everybody,

Please don't use the forums to post or request copryrighted material (especially if it's owned by 2+2).

It used to be available on this site. I guess they took off all of the articles.

The 8 mistakes are obvious.

folding when you should call
folding when you should raise

calling when you should fold
calling when you should raise

raising when you should fold
raising when you should call

checking when you should bet
betting when you should check
