Yet, the same can be said for many players in casino games, horse racing, or the lottery. Even when it is inevitable and obvious that they will lose long term, they keep playing. Clearly there are many reasons why they may continue, but imo a majority of them keep at it because it's fun. It's recreation to them, excitement, a challenge. They budget a certain amount of money to lose at this pursuit and keep playing till it's gone. How do you think all those Las Vegas casinos got built? A few have lost control over their budgeting and decisions about when to play, and hopefully poker players and gamblers in this category get help and decide to take up bungee jumping etc. for the thrills they seek.
it may be obvious to lose, but maybe not in his lifetime :P variance doesnt have to kick in in his lifetime. it could be thousands of years from now. no vacuum
