Hi

I have a friend [I know this should be in the Brags forum]

He has never played poker

He may or may not know even the basics [hand rankings/etc]

He’s asked me to recommend him a book to read

I would think it doesn’t need to be very advanced

I would think it needs to be an easy read

I would think it doesn’t matter if the book is dated and doesn’t have up to the minute plays and thought processes

I think it needs to be a read on the beach type book [rather than a work book]

I’m just not sure what to suggest

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

You could try one of the Phil Gordon books. Green for tourneys, blue for cash as far as I remember. There is also Helmuth´s Play poker like the pros, which is easier reading.

Thanks for that

had a little look

Little Green Book is cash game

Blue is tourneys

So... I have sent him:

Poker for dummies [for the boring basics]

and then Little Green book for a follow up book

And after that, Theory of Poker, Psychology of Poker, Inside The Poker Mind, and ending with Getting Started In Hold'em perhaps.
