It's still all a horrible idea that will end in tears, I'm just planning way ahead for a realpolitik hold-my-nose vote.

Trump has been putting his name in big-ass letters on everything since before I was born, then hit the campaign trail saying, "I alone can fix it."

Zbergz would get in there and say, "Ok gang, let's hear some good ideas. Remember, I got nothing. Did you hear the story of how I originally wanted facebook to be some bizarre hot-or-not derivation? And now we're all billionaires! Good times, good times. All right! Let's put our heads together and actually make this nuclear wasteland called America great again."

Quantify "gobs of his own money" in term of a percentage of his net worth? You do realize that his net worth is over $70 billion and financing a billion or two billion would like no problem at all. Given PAC money and DNC money he wouldn't have to raise even that much most likely. He is like under zero pressure to raise billions for a POTUS campaign.

I think MZ is currently in the process of attempting to learn how to do things like give a speech and seem human. He knows he has to be charismatic to be president so he's trying to learn how to be. Whether this will work or not remains to be seen, but I have a hard time believing that MZ, a guy who is *not* a lottery winner (he's made the right choice over and over again to make FB into the monster it is today... it only seems inevitable in hindsight), is going to willingly submit himself to a primary campaign he would probably lose.

I think average charisma MZ is a formidable candidate. I don't know if he can get there though.

Remind me why we can't just have Mark Cuban do this instead?

Cuban doesn't control the company which distributes all the fake news.

Did Zuck ever actually say that people were "****ing idiots" for turning their personal info over to him? Or is that just people quoting Jesse Eisenberg?

Yes he actually said that. It was in a chat log that was uncovered in the Facebook litigation.

I interpret the bolded as, "We constantly record video and we use the audio from that." Is that me being too paranoid? All day long he said as little as possible, pretending to know nothing, but for that question he added the bolded info that wasn't even asked about.

So the answer was really "Yes we do"?

His quote is pretty indecipherable but it sounds to me like he is saying that they might use the audio to improve the quality of the video recording service but they don't use it for ad reasons or as personal user data.
