Looking forward to Rachel owning this topic the same way Yates owned Ted Cruz. Oh yeah, remember when Trump was considering Cruz for SCOTUS? Good times.
Posting an update to say she did not disappoint. The whole show was excellent last night and so was Lawrence O'Donnell after it. Granted the news yesterday made it easy, but they both killed it.
It was the exact opposite of...

Splitting hairs indeed. It's totally reasonable to assume that she, or anyone in a position like that, would have to craft her language carefully as to not alert the subject(s) of any investigations. Yates was solid yesterday and discrediting her will be a tough task.
so in a hearing about russia we'll basically end up with
lol ted cruz (this is an idiocy test, if you thought cruz won that exchange you are an idiot), despite polling he'll probably win reelection by 10 points.
comey being full of **** about hillary e-mails and yates changing her tune on muslim ban
R talking point and every follower believing clapper said no collusion bam trump's done nothing bad ever boom case closed.
Mom (after seeing Cruz talk for a bit): You know, Trump is nice enough to let Hillary off the hook and this is how they treat him and his people in return?

If I were Teddy, I would've taken my friends and gone home after that. Nothing like a room full of sexist old white guys getting destroyed by a strong woman who knows her ****.
and here I was thinking "wow, so much grand standing, what a joke, our system is."
But I guess they've figured out what people want to hear, pretty well.
I didn't see it as purely grandstanding. While Yates was unflappable and did a heroic job imo, Franken made the most relevant point of the entire hearing:
How is it even possible that WH counsel had to ask why it's relevant if WH staff members lied to each other?
I'm about as anti-Trump as possible (and anti-Cruz for that matter) and think Ted came of fine in that exchange. There was enough there for diehards on either side to cling to and claim their person won.
And if that's all one saw, there is quite a bit of background one would have to be familiar with to have an opinion of who was right.
