It's so awful they're usually a couple points under the national average for unemployment.

That's accounted for entirely by the number of jobs related to the selling of Green Bay Packer merchandise, though.

Not a perfect analysis, but I think you're going to need more to back your assertion that Wisconsin is historically scary place to do business.

Your primary population areas are Madison and Milwaukee. Milwaukee used to be a HUGE manufacturing city, but has been bleeding jobs like crazy to greener pastures for decades.

Madison is the birthplace of the radical Left, but I can't speak directly to their local taxation situation since I do not live there.

Milwaukee taxes are bad, but can't hold a candle to all the "fees" that they love to create.

I just did some checking with regard to local taxation based on your wiki list.

The "highest tax" state on that chart is Alaska, which should have been your first clue that it was useless information.

But Anchorage (by far the most populated city in AK) has a property tax rate of $14.93 per $100k of assessment. Not only that, but they have no sales tax.

Milwaukee, WI has a property tax rate of $26.57 per $100k of assessment. They also have an extra .6% sales tax.

Don't get me started on the fees. (Herp derp Milwaukee Wheel Tax of $20)

The last elections were such a disaster for WI.
