You weren't too far off.

Embarrassing fact: I volunteered at the 2006 Libertarian Party convention. (I was 18, and yes, a virgin)

Johnson needs to rip off Bernie's "Feel the Bern" slogan.

I can see "Feel the Johnson" going places

I would be happy to pull the lever for Johnson. He's quite handsome.

He escaped from Mordor to make the debate? Impressive in itself. I'm sure he did it all on his own as well! well done.

This. I'm ideologically much more libertarian than Johnson or Weld (but probably far less than most people who call themselves libertarians) and I thought the Johnson/Weld ticket was the best chance to bring in new people to the party. People who don't already call themselves libertarians.

That being said I also agree with this. His campaign seems poorly managed. I may volunteer for the campaign/do something or the other but I'm a little hesitant seeing certain decisions that are being made. In some ways I feel that Johnson has an easier time talking about himself than about libertarianism, which is kind of a problem for this party, since the Libertarian Party calls itself the Party of Principle.

Im not sure going on about libertarian ideology will win any voters.

Johnson is in a spot where he can say "look, if I'm president and there's a GOP congress, we'll be able to accomplish the best of what the GOP offers and avoid the worst. If the democrats control congress, we'll get the best of what the democrats offer and avoid the worst"

Let's hear what Gary Johnson will accomplish. Tell us the parts of his platform he's certain he can institute for any given makeup of congress.

Instead of going on ideologically about the drug war, let voters know what will happen to move towards ending it should either party control congress with Johnson as president.

Maybe I'm being foolish but I think the fact that he can get things done and avoid gridlock regardless of which party is in charge should be a huge selling point (even if it's not true).

Just to clarify, I agree that talking in depth about ideology isn't a good idea, and won't sway voters. However, if he is given increasing media coverage he will undoubtedly be asked to sell people on libertarian ism (in fact, he was asked that by Stephen Colbert last night.)

Instead of talking about the ideological benefits, he ought to be touting the fiscal numbers of ending mass incarceration. It's costing us just an insane amount of money every year that could be spent on education, highways, tax cuts, food stamps, pretty much anything is more productive than keeping nonviolent offenders locked up for years on end.

Making it about ideology would be a huge mistake. Our current system is ridiculously impractical, we are literally throwing billions of dollars down the drain for no reason.

I want to apologize to all the Libertarians for cracking wise itt last year. Right now, I would happily cut off my own pinky if it would get Derrick Michael Reid in the White House.

It is kinda funny how much time Dems spend trying to argue against libertarians. Like we're the ones you need to convince to improve your election chances.
