Sarah Palin would not get elected to city council in most cities. She ran away from the Alaska financial crisis. Romney will get elected. Obama basically used his health care plan. It could be Paul. It will be either Romney or Paul. Some outsider could come in.

starrazz, you know Huckabee banned gay marriage in his state when he was governor, right?

I'm not real fond when people try to tell me that I'm just against same sex marriage. I tell people I'm actually just for keeping marriage in the only manner in which it's even been known in any culture in any civilization throughout all of history, and dear friends, until Moses comes down with two stone tablets from Brokeback Mountain saying he's changed the rules, let's keep it like it is.

lol, last one is kind of funny, but still seems bigoted to me.

No, I'm guessing the Birthers are pursuing lawsuits or something because they don't believe the issue has been settled like I do.

It's not racist to call someone from Africa an African. If that's where Obama is from. Which according to the public records office in Hawaii, he is not.

If my requirement of my politicians is that I agree with every point about their religious views, I could never vote for anyone. It comes down to how comfortable you are with their views impacting their policy decisions. And I make that judgment of comfort by comparing their policies to those of the Democrats, and its no contest which way I support after THAT analysis.
I appreciate your public service in identifying the 5% of the Republican platform I disagree with. I'm still Republican. :-)

Re: Who Will Be the 2012 Republican Presidential Nominee?
I'm under the impression that America will highly be in favor of giving Obama a second term--he's our first ever black President and is so good looking and eloquent. The Republicans should throw a dog at him, no? Kind of concede and hope for 2016? Is this outrageous to consider?
IMO Ron Paul (or someone like him) would be the best for our country, but we're so far gone I don't think we can discern this.

If we can't win in 2012 based on how he rammed this Obamacare down our throats, then we should "kind of concede and hope for 2036."

paul ryan would be fine as he already has 6 terms of experience on the federal level in the house.

I wasn't saying I was necessarily against experience, but I believe the last election proved that being in office for a long time is no longer a prerequisite to getting elected to a major position.
Also running as a "Washington outsider" has a lot of advantages. Especially if everyone is pissed off at Washington.

I just find it weird to support a person who specifically calls for YOU to have your rights abridged by the government that taxes you and may call on you to fight for it. There ARE republicans who don't wish to treat gays as second class citizens.
Which parts of the republican platform are so great that they outweigh the call to discriminate against you?

Republicans offer a real chance at fiscal responsibility that runs counter to Democrats. The last three Republican Presidents showed that they are not going to expand the power of the federal government or increase the national debt. It's pretty easy to see what's so great about them Taso....DUCY?!?!

Re: Who Will Be the 2012 Republican Presidential Nominee?
no republican that is prominent on the national scene has any chance of winning 2012. by far the best chance is to nominate a more moderate candidate that doesnt have to pander to the far right. the frenzy that the fringe has worked up will only be effective if they give their stamp of approval on a candidate like gary johnson or paul ryan who will attract younger independents at a rate that is impossible for romney (i cant imagine the gop would be dumb enough to elect huckabee/palin). the conservative base has been fostered to have such intense negative feelings towards obama/administration that they will come out strong regardless of who the nominee is. i dont know if i can see johnson who is divorced and advocates legalization of marijuana being legal getting nominated but i think he fares the best in the general election.

ElliotR tried to just let that one slip by so as not to draw attention to his Muslim Kenyan liberal hero. Word on the street is that Michelle has had enough and now that she's finally proud of this country she'll be running to the GOP and fist-bumping her way to the Oval Office in 2012.
