We are sorely lacking venture capitalists around here. Step up your games, please.

I have a business idea you may want to fund.

It involves paying LirvA to grow a certain "plant" then I would provide security for the shipments of that "plant" to various locations.

I can't say more over an open forum, but PM me.

You stake yourself. Pretty hard to seperate entrepreneur and capitalist. I'd say every poker player that plays on his own dime is both.

What goods or services are produced for profit in a poker game? There is no such thing as a mutually beneficial exchange in poker.

Re: What sort of capitalist are you?

Every person that plays a pot believes he will benefit as a result. Otherwise they wouldn't play.

It's a good point though. Obviously the losers don't get anything out of it. You could maybe argue that they got some wisdom or something.

I would say poker players are capitalists. They own their means of production and their business is outsmarting other players.

How is that relevant? If I can turn a profit or loss I engage in entrepreneurial action. To give a very simple example that doesn't involve the stake money itself...if I buy a second monitor for myself to play I also act as a capitalist.

Re: What sort of capitalist are you?

You guys have an awfully loose definition of capitalism. Sounds like it might even cover casual conversation.
