Masoud Barzani's been President of Kurdistan since 2005. he was constitutionally limited to two four-year terms, but a law passed agreeably among all Kurdish partie) in 2013 extending his Presidency two more years with a stipulation it couldn't be extended again. the two year bonus term expired in August.
the KDP is Barzani's party, Sulaimaniyah is an opposition party/anti-KDP city
