Makes sense I suppose. Guy(s) run over people on bridge and stab/shoot people in the market.

As odd as it sounds, it'd be somewhat of a relief if it was one full attack rather than two efficiently coordinated attacks. Letting one attack through is one thing but allowing two at the same time is a much bigger **** up because it would show extraordinary gaps in intelligence gathering.

A predictable response if I've ever seen one.

Oh you know damn well Trump's rhetoric increases the chance of things like this happening. It's an intentional strategy. Trump is pretty much a terrorist.

Can we not make this thread about Trump either, at least until there's a fuller picture? Point-scoring before the blood has dried on the pavement is really crass.

Coordinated attacks just to be the hallmark of Al-Qaeda. Not sure if ISIS has adopted the same style.

The current Trump thread has this terror attack within the context of Trump and US politics as a whole.

Trump is an unhinged idiot. Judging by this post (and others in the thread) he's not the only one.

eta- Ok I just saw his tweet. Yeah, way dumber and more out of line than anything posted in this thread, apologies.

I'm in the "wish these things didn't get blared all over media and glorified" camp, mostly only helps fear mongering for the people that want to use it to increase their own power and the promotion of terrorists.

True. Though what's the alternative? Media blackout?

Coordinated attacks a commonplace goal, but obviously difficult to do. Multiple suicide bombings are the most common - set off a bomb one place, do another one a little while later where you think people will run to. ISIS have certainly done the latter, one I remember is Ankara. They did full on coordinated attacks with multiple cells in Paris.

Cities around the world need to be a lot more vigilant.
vigilance alone will certainly keep every car on the road from running up on the sidewalk

their threat level was already at severe or critical from the last attack still

Just stop talking about it. Every post (even this one) is free publicity for ISIS.

If everyone shut the f*** up about it terrorism would end tomorrow, but of course that would never happen.
06-03-2017 , 08:06 PM
Actually the threat level had been reduced a few days after Manchester

They could also be done in one single attack. In the Boston Marathon bombing, wasn't one small bomb set off first and then a larger bomb set off where everybody was running to?

What if the driver was a drunk Muslim?

I think the Muslim part probably has the media scrambling to put this as a top story followed by speculation of terror followed by speculation of what he drank only to have the Muslim community declare him not being a real Muslim because real Muslims don't drink. Probably more speculation of what it was because maybe he is a Muslim and was on downers.

The media only does it because they are inherently Islamophobic and xenophobic. They never spend this much energy and attention on the white supremacist terrorists that kill in America quite frequently. Also, their audience is extremely Islamophobic. Not just the conservatives either. Look at a guy like Bill Maher, he normalizes and pushes Islamophobia on the "left". It sells.

People being unable to differentiate between Muslims and ISIS is obviously partly what the terrorists are banking on.

Yeah, certainly (don't remember the detail of Boston, but obviously possible). Was just saying that IS have done coordinated attacks so no need to wonder if that's in their wheelhouse. Again, am not talking about this evening at all, no idea what went on there.

Last edited by pyatnitski; 06-03-2017 at 08:25 PM. Reason: Guess it depends what you mean by coordinated, am taking it as attacks planned to coincide beforehand, not begin on same cue

This will keep happening unfortunately. Too many people influenced by islamism.
