I know you already know this, but facts about MS-13 are irrelevant. It's just another symbol. It's like when Cruz voters were asked what their major issues were and one of the most common answers was "The Constitution", which translated out of Deplorish means "I would like to journey to this idealized version of the 1950s I am imagining".

This guy is starting to feel like an ambulance chaser. Put up. If you have info don’t slow trickle it when people’s lives are in danger.

Is there anything I can do about this from the northeast part of the country, ie without making a trip to the border? Learn some hacking skills and become a hacktivist?

Its as equally frightening as it is enraging how gaslighting is one of main argumentative tools for these stupid, racist pieces of ****. We're at this place now where one can't even "win" a debate, because the other side is forming arguments based on totally made up ****.

There are small scale protests at ICE facilities all over the country. It doesn't accomplish a heck of a lot, but it lets people know there are detainment centers in their community. People usually have no clue and think it's just a border state thing, but ICE has over a hundred centers in dozens of states.

https://www.ice.gov/detention-facilities

And that map just shows detention facilities. They also have another 167 field offices:

Yeah. He’s instant ignore for me. If he has any of the countless explosive things he alluded to or hints at we’ll hear about it from reputable people and not just him.

Whole lot of detention facilities around Newark, NJ.

Guess the government thought that Newark was such as hellhole that detention facilities would actually improve the city. Certainly they don't exist to intimidate the minority population that lives there.

Looks like Scott above didn't defriend me or anyone and deleted the thread. The optimist in me hopes he had a tiny moment of reflection. LOL

But if you look at the rest of his wall it is all mostly happy positive stuff. He's definitely in the upper percentiles of relative decency within the cult - for whatever that's worth.

My Mom just posted this on FB (she's a retired immigration lawyer). Civility!

re: Mitch

Feels like **** is getting real. I see someone (or their security/family) shooting one of these protesters and claiming self-defense. That's how this is going to escalate.

Maybe the violence is going to originate the other way, that's probably the most likely. It feels like it's coming either way though. Maybe not over this issue right now, but things are seriously bubbling.

The venom is finally being matched.

I don't know. The people themselves are putzes physically. Chao and Mitch couldn't do much more then operate one of those claw extender thingys. The majority of GOP legislators are 60+. The main issue is the cops more than security. They're the young and love to knock heads

Once high-profile violence of protesters starts going unpunished, then good luck.

Given Trump's propensity to encourage his supporters to beat up protesters, I wouldn't be surprised to see him advocate their deaths.

I agree. I think the way you're suggesting isn't the most likely direction, but either way I feel violence is coming. I'm honestly surprised we've gone almost 1.5 years into this presidency with only a scattering of incidents (Heather Heyer, Steve Scalise).

I really hope I'm wrong.

We could have 25 right-wing nutjobs shoot up churches, concerts and schools. But it will be HOLY HELL the next time one Muslim or left-leaning nutjob does it. Chiefsplanet will vacillate between ****ting themselves and calling for mass executions.

I also agree. My brother just came home with a story about intervening in a confrontation between a racist old white guy and a younger a black guy. Just words exchanged, luckily. But things feel like they're ready to boil over. Trump is going to get people killed.

Judge just ordered 30 day deadline for family reunification.
06-27-2018 , 12:43 AM
Am I understanding correctly that the judge is ruling that the chaos surrounding the process of separation and reunification amount to a due process violation?

Based on today's ruling that seems unlikely to survive Supreme Court appeal but maybe it doesn't matter as the short timeline for reunification makes it moot for those currently separated absent an emergency stay of this ruling.

14 days for little kids (5 and under?) I think.

Very sadly I'm afraid this will accomplish what Trump wants (stop people from wanting to come to the US) and the aholes in the country will like it. In 2016 Mexico passed a law granting more rights to asylum seekers and if Obrador wins that should be good too. Anyway, hopefully Central American refugees can do well there.
