Oh, RedMan. Saying we should shun the big government candidates while jumping on the Gingrich bandwagon. Gingrich, who thought up the health insurance mandate. Gingrich, who supports the continued erosion of civil liberties, expansion of the military industrial complex and endless wars. Sure sounds like small government to me.

You forgot that Newt is the small government thinker who wanted to control the population to combat global warming.

And, of course, Newt, who wanted to expand Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

But Wookie, the things he says (since the start of the Presidential campaign) don't jive with this. You must be wrong. He is a true conservative who's word is golden. He's also a man of God, and while I don't know anything about his personal life, as a man of strong Catholic values I am sure his past is pristine.

Don't think this has been covered yet, but Feinstein had an amendment today stating that the detention would be limited to off U.S. soil -- this got voted down 45-55 also.

LOLmerica!

Re: US to declare the "homeland" a battlefield.

Land of the free obviously.

it absolutely pains me to the pit of my stomach to see peoples posts in this thread stating things such as...

''We must give up our freedom to protect us''

protect you from what? You're statistcally more likely to be killed by a police officer than you are a terrorist.

The USA has invaded how many countrys now?

The USA is about to attack Iran and cause WWW III and we're supposed to believe that these are the same people that want to ''protect you''

lol, wake up yanks, atleast here in the UK and Europe we can sorta see what's happening here, you lot still live in ignorance un aware of what's infront of you. YOU ARE THE ENEMY not some sand people (who you armed and bought to power) over seas, YOU ARE

''He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither'' - Benjamin Franklin

Bye yanks, I wish you the best of luck!

the brainwashed obama supporters / republican supporters in this forum don't even pay attention to stuff like this.

obviously i find it absolutely disgusting and voiced my disapproval to mitch for voting nay.

and who is one of the only republicans to support such an amendment? you guessed it, rand paul.

I am really impressed with Rand Paul's senate presence on the Patriot Act and this bill. He really states the case for protecting constitutional rights very well although cranky McCain and the rest of the Senate donks don't seem to give a flying ****.

Sounds more like a grand illegal immigration bill than a national security bill.
The bill was written by McAmnesty. The last people who need to worry about this are the illegals.

Sen. Paul Statement on Defeat of Detainee Amendment

Thank god someone is standing up for us.

Quote:
amendment No. 1274 would have allowed the U.S. government to detain an American citizen indefinitely, even after they had been tried and found not guilty, until Congress declares an end to the war on terror.
How outrageous is that ****?! Holy ****.
