Re: US to declare the "homeland" a battlefield.
Does that mean we will soon have predator drone strikes against US citizens on US soil?
Change we can believe in.

Re: US to declare the "homeland" a battlefield.
The War on Terror is a global war and one which our enemies fight on our home soil.
Face it, warfare has evolved far from its roots and in the interest of our security we have to accept bills like this one.
I usually disagree with John McCain but he is spot on here.
Just remember that your ability to criticize this bill without fear of retribution is exactly what we are fighting for.

Re: US to declare the "homeland" a battlefield.
Not that I support this bill, but it does specifically disclaim applicability to US citizens and lawful resident aliens. The hyperbolic reactions with inaccurate claims of what the bill will do are unwarranted and harmful, imho.

Yeah free speech is worth fighting for. It's worth noting that American citizens have been assassinated without due process for exercising their free speech. But hey, let's get more of the same!

Agreed. In time of war some of us have to sacrifice some freedoms for the overall national security.

I agree, but sensationalistic and inaccurate reporting does no good. The truth is the bill, as currently written, will not change the status quo.

Bull****.

Affirms that the United States is in an armed conflict with al Qaeda, the Taliban, and associated forces, and that the President is authorized to detain unprivileged enemy belligerents in connection with such conflict until the termination of hostilities.

This affirmation nonsense is a ****ing joke. The president is NOT authorized to do such things.
