Yep, this has been going on since the GOP primaries, the theory that Trump is actually a genius playing the part of a moron to fool everyone. It's pretty obvious the guy is just really, really dumb.

Even back when he hosted The Apprentice, the live finale shows were always a trainwreck because Trump couldn't formulate a coherent sentence when speaking without a script.

I suspect this bill will barely pass the House simply because the GOP knows it will die in the Senate, and then they can blame the Dems. They are spineless and nothing matters but the next election.

Stolen from Twitter but this bill mimics "The One Where They Build a House.”

I think this is possible, but I don't think its likely.

Many of the Republican votes against are coming from Republicans that will have no problem getting re-elected if they vote against this bill. Which means if they try to vote FOR the bill for overall party goals they're probably opening themselves up to some other crazier ass person to come at them from the right in the next primary.

The only upside to the current political situation is that its a lot of Republicans getting royally ****ed by their own past behaviour.

Trumps pitch for the plan doesn't actually mention anything the plan does, just that Obamacare is bad

Sigh. When this thing passes, expect streaming tears of adoration from the Trump slappies, even those that know this is a terrible bill.

"*Choke* Now that's damn fine deal-making. I knew he'd pull it out."

I remember when Obama invented the deductible. What a Muslim jerk.

Freedom Caucus Repub: Well, this bill goes against every principle I've crowed about for the last decade. But...

Moderate Repub: Well, my constituents hate this bill, and it will make them poorer and sicker. But...

In Unision: Obama was BLACK!

Final vote: 241 Yes to 194 No.

What are we supposed to have learned? It seems like all the relevant lessons from the election support the "it will pass" position.

The fight's not over people. Call your Representative. Tell them why it's important to you that they vote NO on AHCA today. Never give up, never surrender!

There are a lot of reasons. First among them, when the GOP passes a bill they own healthcare.

This would be the play if it weren't for 1) the people who are going to get screwed hard by this bill and 2) the high likelihood that this bill gets killed in the Senate.

That he's a con who doesn't deliver on his grandiose promises. What, is he gonna use his Master Persuader super negotiation skills to work out a deal everyone is just gonna love? lol no, he's gonna bail out and move on to not passing tax cuts.

Inapplicable lessons. Trump doesn't have to do anything. He just has to say that he wants it, and threaten to turn the base against the people who oppose him - something he has already done in this instance and which succeeded during the election - and they will cave.

And as I believe you yourself and countless others have said: what does the GOP really care about?
#1 Highest Priority: Sticking it to libs.
#2 (Trump wing): Winning.
#3 (Paul Ryan wing): Tax cuts.

It passes, bruh.

He can campaign on getting rid of Obamacare and replacing it with the Affordable Care Act and his slappies will eat it up.

This is one of the saddest "sad but true" things I've read in awhile.

Anyone good websites for following the minute-by-minute of this?

According to TheHill.com at 11:04am:

There are now 34 no votes on The Hill's Whip List.

I think it would better for the GOP if it fails right now, if it passes then it is just going to fail in the Senate and waste more time for them. If it passes then they are screwed even more because of how bad it is.

Biggest question is if it fails today and Trump moves on, how enraged will voters be? After 8 years of saying how bad the ACA is, can you really just leave it be when you have congress and WH? Trump's been deflon don before but this seems like a leap.

I think this is probably right, but it will still be bad and hilarious. They will have some phony distraction by next week, though.

Don't be surprised by a terror threat warning.

Based on reading breitbart stories and comments section this is definitely not true.

God, I hate myself for this, but strategically I hope this passes. There's probably still only 25% of the country paying attention. If it passes house and gets even more coverage, that may go to 60%. The bill is pure undiluted aids and needs to be widely associated with Trump.
