Someone made a simple point... the next time a terrorist might strap a bomb on themselves and blow up a few hundred people waiting in line with their shoes in their hand waiting to be scanned.
That my point, why are so many billions of $$$ going to security at airports? A terrorist can cause so much more damage so much easier at a shopping mall, sports event, etc..

Why is everybody so hung up on airports still?

Based upon your position, I see the following:

Homeland Security Director:
Mr. Prez, we have evidence that suggests the terrorists are going to hit federal bldg A in Denver next month using the Y method. We also have evidence that they are going to hit the largest shopping mall in Dallas, using method X & they are going to hit another govt agency in PA using method Z.
We suggest we take the following action to prevent said events from happening.........

President:
Don't bother. Once the terrorists know we know of their plan, they'll just pick other targets & we can't protect all the malls & federal bldgs in the country. Focus on identifying and capturing the terrorists before they commit the acts. And, whatever you do, don't do anything, such as advise the public of the danger, that would let the terrorists know we are on to them. It will send them back into hidding, making it harder to catch them.
We are already spending millions attempting to "protect" aircraft & catching a rash of trash from the public for it. Let's not spend anymore money on taking action that would be perceived by the public as encrouching on their liberties.

If we can send drones after terrorists & accept the civilian deaths in Afghanistan as "collateral damage", then we can accept a little "collateral damage" here at home. It's time to take the action we need to catch the terrorists here at home, instead of sending them back in the darkness every time we announce ahead of time that we know of their plot in an effort to protect the public. Let's catch them in action.

And.....while we're on the subject. I want the person who came up with the idea of spending milliions, putting those concrete poles in front of entrances to federal bldgs, to prevent terrorists from running another vehicle into the 1st floor of the bldgs fired.
There's always another way for the terrorists to attack. We had to borrow that money, dammit!

Furthermore, the doubling of the Federal Air Marshalls..........I want them reduced back to the level we had them at before 9/11. Raising the number of aircraft in the air with marshalls on them from 10% to 20% isn't worth the money. The terrorists still have an 80% chance of getting on a plane without a marshall.

By the way...........do I have the authority to do away with Homeland Security? Think of the billions we would save.

11-17-2010 , 07:26 PM
now they're recognizing an architect from 500 years ago HOLY ****, statists, take note of how stupid your ****ing system is, how stupid you must be to support it.

11-17-2010 , 07:27 PM
Aaaaaaaand now we're talking about a concurrent resolution to acknowledge the achievement of an Italian architect who died over 400 years ago.
11-17-2010 , 07:28 PM
IMPORTANT RESOLUTION!!!

CONGRESS IS SERIOUS BUISINESS IMO!!!
11-17-2010 , 07:29 PM
Serious question though, why do they do this ****? I'm guessing some big shot donor/ organizer has an architecture hard on and this is some sort of kickback?
11-17-2010 , 07:29 PM
I had a pretty low opinion of congress already but wow

did he already speak? wtf.
11-17-2010 , 07:35 PM
Taso,
I know you libertarians think that anything the gov't does is wrong, but we need them to step in here and correct market failure. The free market would never meaninglessly recognize any italian architects from 400 years ago. That would be a shame.

PS LOL the ayes have it by 1-0
11-17-2010 , 07:36 PM
this stupid WHORE from california has introduced like SIX USELESS ****ING THINGS

Perhaps he already spoke but sometimes those things get added to the record even though the reps never actually say it. (I think, at least.) Anyway, I don't think we will be seeing him on the floor today.
11-17-2010 , 07:41 PM
P1: [x] Important issue.
P2: [x] Well-thought out analysis.
C: [ ] Congress will give it any attention.
11-17-2010 , 07:43 PM
"Resolution promoting national adoption day"

so maybe I was too harsh on the Congress, is there some clause which stipulates that only ******ed resolutions may be introduced after 5:30pm?

Andrea Palladio would be against having your junk grabbed imo.
