I put little stock in what a center who declared Maajid Nawaz to be an "Anti-Muslim extremist" has to say. They even admit they can't verify the incidents—they're just pandering to alarmists like you and whoever else I was just posting with above. It also wouldn't surprise me if many of these incidents were completely fabricated, as many such cases have come to light where people who love playing the victim outright concoct outrageous stories of oppression.

It makes sense that after this cauldron of a bigotry-infused political cycle there would be an uptick in these kinds of incidents, but I think it's exceedingly overblown in the media and in the minds of a lot of people in this thread. It's not like we have data from 2008 or 2004 to compare it with, and I don't find the current data of biased media reports and teens acting scummy to be especially compelling. I know many are inclined to see this election as the beginnings of the Fourth Reich, but it's way too early for that to be a reasonable assumption. Once we see a few hundred thousand Muslims held in camps, then we can talk, but while it's still one-in-a-million high school kids telling a Mexican to sit in the back of the bus, I don't think democracy is in peril.

I write a reasonable post and you just respond with this vapid, trollish ****. I sound more upset than I am, but I just want you to hold yourself to a higher standard. I thought you were a person worth listening to prior to this election—I mistakenly bought into the "beat Nate Silver" undertitle. Maybe you are sharp and were just unlucky, or maybe you're realizing you're kind of a clueless tool and now you're going to start acting like it.

- I'm a mod in other forums but not here
- you are confusing me with "goofball" who is a different person
- I responded with "lol" because I don't really know what else to do but laugh at someone who suggests that stories about high schoolers suddenly getting the urge to make racist chants and stuff like that are meaningless and we shouldn't care

So speaking up early and keeping people vigilant is dangerous but we can't even have a discussion until we see this? Umm once this happens (not saying it will) we are way past the point of reasonable action. It's not overblowing a situation and then having nothing happen that's dangerous; it's ignoring real peril until it's too late.

So is the take that all these racists out there needed to be affirmed by having a perceived racist in the white house before they could put their racism on display?

Fact checking facebook stories is what liberals do. Conservatives are too busy MAGAing.

Actually I think a lot of these stories just went underreported before and Trump's election makes them fashionable to report on.

So my take:

1. tons of Americans are unvarnished racist *******s and these racially, religiously motivated incidents of violence and derp were actually frighteningly common pre Trump
2. the media was largely disinterested on putting this on display
3. it's now decent clickbait so we're talking about it

I'm a little aghast at the media and some liberals who are making this about Trump. I mean I'm sure he's maybe triggering some bad impulses but I feel like America's unreformed troglodyte masses saying wretched racist ****, terrorizing minorities, being clowns -- that was pre Trump America too. I feel like I must have lived in some other country for a long time but I guess I now welcome everyone to realize the depths of the inhumanity surrounding us.

So it turns out this super scary 4th Reich registry was in effect from 2002-2011. Are you ****ing kidding me?

"The United States had a registry for high-risk immigrants implemented after the 9/11 attacks, but it dissolved in 2011 after questions about anti-Muslim bias and redundancy, Reuters reports.
Trump has no obligation to follow these recommendations."

I wonder what this means. Is some other agency already maintaining the list?

Careful, with every realization God makes a Trumpkin, so I'm told.

Yes they canceled the list because they found a collection of databases with data they were already collecting that did the same thing.

trumps America will be fun.

You lefty liberals who despise trump are just not fun people is what it basically comes down to. You have very little personality.

I mean who do you want to hang out with to have a good time and have a beer with? A trump supporter or some male feminist hildog supporter?

Look at this dude Milo yiannopoulous, he is a trump supporter and hilarious, all his supporters at his speeches are jazzed up and fun people. And then you watch the videos of the people trying to stop people from seeing Milo speak and they are completely deranged awkward weirdos..... Much like I'm sure many of you high count posters are IRL.

i mean the worst comes to worst, the country is a sinking ship already....at least trump will make things fun as it continues to go down.

Putin and Trump vs the NWO? That's better than mcgregor and mayweather.

I don't discount the "obvious, effective, most convenient insult available" situation. That insult has been put back in the arsenal, even if people don't really mean it.

While people can and will talk ****, focus needs to be placed on those who have actual power. Law enforcement, government, corporate entities, teachers. Get through the clutter. Trump did this so well during the race. Saying a million stupid things hides the real threats.

Like 90% of funny people are liberals, pretty much the only thing funny in conservatism is the trolling. Seriously those "comical conservative" memes are the worst.

The only conservative comedian I can think of is Jeff Dunham and quite frankly his **** get old fast.

It's really hard for me to believe that these tribal idiots aren't significantly fired up now that they've taken the country over. The SPLC seems to think Trumplemania is a thing, tho maybe they're just trying to boost donations.

California woman said that she received a threatening note and her car window was smashed all because her head covering was mistaken for a Muslim hijab.

Nicki Pancholy, 41,*told KNTV*that she has been hiking up Mission Peak in Fremont in the name of peace for the past 49 days. And on Monday, she dedicated her hike to bringing collective harmony after a brutal election season.

But when she came down from the peak, she discovered that her car window had been smashed. A note on the hood of her car suggested that the suspect mistakenly believed that she was Muslim.

“Hijab wearing bitch this is our nation now get the f— out,” the note said.
