Is it likely gas prices will soar again W-style?
11-09-2016 , 10:17 AM
he is gonna grab a lot of pussy, deport 12mil imigrants, build walls like stalin in berlin, destroy nato, betrey allies, steal Iraq oil, start new wars... u.s. is failing empire. its the end of rome days all over again. the lunatic emperor has taken the throne and crowds of unedicated and stupid leople cheer bc they have no clue
11-09-2016 , 10:19 AM
Of course the wall gets built

He won because of the wall (HUGELY secretly popular) and protectionism. Probably the most thorough rejection of libertarianism ever.

I'm curious what happens to all these states that legalized marijuana. He ran as the law and order candidate, and I'm sure that's not only code for "jail the blacks".

As I said before, repubs stop being pro-states rights the second they get power, so will we see a huge crackdown on Mary Jane in states?

i don't see anything on his agenda that raises gas prices.

I actually think it's highly unlikely he prosecutes Hillary. I think he leaves her alone because he wants all the attention on himself.

This has to be right. The mechanics of the president ordering an indictment of a specific person after the FBI has cleared her of criminal wrongdoing (twice!) are gruesome.

Wall-lite gets built.
Repeal individual mandate and let Obamacare kill itself.
No dramatic increase in deportations.
EPA and other regulations slashed.
Taxes cut.
Spending about the same.
Larger deficits.
"backs out" of Iran deal, but nothing happens.
Stacks DOJ with cronies that will lead to several scandals during first term.

That and with all the war crimes he pledged to commit while campaigning, he's probably hoping not to end up in jail when he leaves office in disgrace.

Oh, forgot to say that economy stagnates and wall ends up keep illegal immigrants IN.
11-09-2016 , 10:56 AM
A new path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants: help build the wall for free, and when the wall's done you're a citizen.

If you don't participate in that voluntarily, you get rounded up, forced to build the wall and then deported. Anyone who resists gets shot and their corpse used as part of the wall.

Uhm... How exactly does the president control interest rates?

There is some fear he will fire Yellen.

The FBI didn't exactly clear her, more like they took it upon themselves to reinterpret the law. In any event there's plenty of dirt between the Clinton sheets for a new attorney general to get into.

I think he has to, it was a major point in the campaign - "She's a criminal". If he comes out with "Just kidding" and declines to pursue it he emasculates his Presidency right out of the gate.

Obamacare will be repealed and replaced with something terrific
The wall will be built and Mexico will pay
All troops will come home from all over the world
Trade deals like NAFTA will be renegotiated. TPP is dead.
A conservative will replace Scalia on SCOTUS and we will have control of that branch for another generation
The Iran deal will be torn in two on day 1 live on Trump TV

Schumer may try to obstruct but ultimately will cave as Democrats always do.
11-09-2016 , 11:44 AM
Trump should serve for 2 1/2 years and then turn it over to Pence, leaving Pence eligible to run for reelection in both 2020 and 2024.

Trump will love the personal freedom and status of being a former President more than actually being President
11-09-2016 , 11:47 AM
The wall will be built, or at least started in earnest, and we will pay for it with increased debt.

Medicare becomes a voucher system.

Massive tax cuts for the rich, token tax cuts for the middle class, benefit cuts to the poor.

Obamacare is repealed and replaced with nothing. Uninsured rates and health insurance costs both rise.

Large increase in defense spending.

Iran resumes work on a nuclear weapon.

The media here in Europe is going completely nuts, pretty much expecting Putin to march into the Baltics etc. There's obviously a bunch of hyperboling involved, but I'd be interested to hear from smart posters about their views on what this will likely mean from a global/world peace/Russia standpoint. What do you predict will happen wrt Baltics/NATO/Ukraine/ISIS/Middle East etc?

Basically the main cause for panic here seems to be that people fear Trump won't gaf about NATO, which will allow Putin to do what he wants. Living next door to Russia, I don't think I'm massively scared (yet) but I think I would be if I lived in Latvia.

At no point would the American people say "oh, that was a crappy mistake, look at all the **** that happened since Trump was elected".
From now on every ****ty thing that will happen (and A LOT of ****ty things will happen) is going to be blamed on the liberals/left wing/obama/hillary/the media/SCOTUS.

After 4 years of every prediction that you can come up with, Trump will get reelected on a platform of being MORE TRUMP. Explaining that he was held back by leftist or liberals or moderate republicans.

It will take a whole lot longer than you think for the "left" to get back in power, even though things will get much worse in every aspect of life.
Jesus.

My employer is an apparel retailer that designs and produces ~90% of our line. The garments are mainly manufactured in China, so if Trump wants to start a trade war with him I suppose my job is on the line.
11-09-2016 , 12:04 PM
Oh, Hillary not convicted of anything.

Day 1: "In the interests of moving our country's dialogue forward, I hereby grant an unconditional pardon to Hillary Clinton for all of the crimes she may have committed."

j/k

Two Trump prediction threads? Where are the mods - Canada?
11-09-2016 , 12:18 PM
The domestic stuff is going to be bad. No way around it, but probably not much worse than any generic republican with all branches.

The foreign policy stuff is what's going to keep me up at night. Trump is in charge of nukes for four years.

Unemployment down, poverty down, wealth/income inequality down, uninsured down, life span up, education up, standing in the world up considerably.

Ukraine takes Russia, maybe a few more countries.
