Seems most of the people who called trump's presidency also called it ending in impeachment, due to massive corruption we've already seen on display.

I mean, it only takes a $200 million donation to get a dept headship. Seems like the kind of thing trumpists thought Hillary would do.

It's BS. At most it's some rando's comment. The one related rando comment I heard was that the crowd is shaping up to be overwhelmingly white.

Just want to get this down.
If not for a purge, perhaps it will be a flood of false allegations to provide a smoke screen and cast doubt when Trump is charged.

I get a feeling that Trump's mandate is going to look a lot like Obama's mandate in some ways, except that now the Republican Congress will suddenly forget how much they care about blowing up the budget when it comes to throwing the people some scraps. Rich people still going to reap the most rewards, of course.

Here's my top 10 list of Trump fears:
  1. Trump loses his cool over a terrorist attack or some diplomatic crisis, and opens the age of strategic nukes.
  2. Trump rounds up US Muslims into internment camps after a major terrorist attack.
  3. Trump weaponizes the FBI and NSA to use against his political enemies or anyone who rubs him the wrong way. The CIA doesn't seem to like him, so they will need to be purged before he can use them as a weapon.
  4. Trump and Republicans find a way to curtail freedom of the press.
  5. Trump starts an unnecessary ground war to distract from his dismal popularity or flagging economy.
  6. Trump erodes faith in democracy to the point where it paves the way for sham elections like in other countries like Russia.
  7. Trump and his entourage create some kind of national hysteria to distract the public and use as an excuse to purge political enemies - ala Duterte and his drug purge in the Philippines. Maybe pizzagate was a trial run for some kind of national pedophile hysteria?
  8. Trump and Republicans somehow screw up or kill off the National Park system (the really seem to be keen on selling off federal lands - Kochs are salivating over them).
  9. Steve Bannon, an avowed white nationalist who wants to "burn it all down", plays Rasputin to Trump. He creates chaos towards his ultimate goal of tearing down the US and rebuilding it as an authoritarian state.
  10. Trump lives up to his promise to start trade wars and tanks the economy.

That's about it. I really hope none of these come true and I have to issue a big mea culpa.

The rest is just standard Republican stuff that would happen under Trump or Pence with both Houses of Congress and a conservative SCOTUS. I'm completely resigned that Obamacare, Net Neutrality, Planned Parenthood, PBS and the NEA will be killed off. There will be lots of tax breaks for the rich and not much for the rest of us. The Supreme Court will continue to be an activist conservative court with more rulings like Citizens United and killing off the Voting Rights Act. LGBT rights will be rolled back. Nothing will be done about climate change (which to be fair probably wasn't going to happen anyway) and the environment will be trashed in favor of business (which would not have happened).

I bet we will so how the measuring of things like the unemployment rate, the US debt, or crime is changed in a way that makes Trump look better.

Trump always talks about the labor participation rate (40% of adults not working or whatever). This is obviously because a bunch of baby boomers are now retired, but I bet they'd go back to work if Trump slashed their social security. 2 birds with one stone!

Sean Spicer will disappear in a few months. He is a nervous wreck and can't speak clearly.

masha gessen's trump presidency predictions:

1. efforts to resist the transition to autocracy will be futile

2. it will take a miracle to avoid nuclear holocaust

3. irreparable damage to the environment that will make survival of the human species impossible

4. lifting sanctions against russia

5. banning one newspaper after another from the white house

6. trump will start thinking about wars

7. trump will go to the putin model of holding only one press conference a year

8. begin calls for american people to start reporting immigrants, turning neighbor against neighbor

9. an old russian joke about everyone thinking they've hit rock bottom, and then hearing a knock from below

Obama was the GOAT Drone Commander in Chief.

Of that there is no doubt.

He has carried out an order of magnitude more strikes than Bush. (That means 10 times as many LowKey.)

And since he is so committed to transparency he has decided to release annual figures of civilian deaths. This report should be of particular import to anyone in the forum who has their fainting couch out over the White House disseminating false information about super duper important stuff like the number of people to attend the inauguration.

Turns out, according to Barry, we only killed a single civilian in 2016. See what a great guy O is. Only one!

And O pegs the official non-combatants body count throughout the entirity of his administration at 64-177. Notbad.gif

Slight rub though; pretty much anybody who isn't the White House or US Military has the number anywhere from 200 - 1000 deaths.

Of course not being burdened by facts and presupposing any person who is in the path of said attacks are combatants by definition does aid his case.

Quote:
Why the disparity between what American officials claim and what others report? The New York Times provided a first clue back in 2012, when it reported that the U.S. “in effect counts all military-age males in a strike zone as combatants, according to several administration officials, unless there is explicit intelligence posthumously proving them innocent."
But hey; lets keep the outrage level up over a walking hairpiece lying about how many people showed up to his party. Because that's important.

thenewsavman,

There's an awful lot about the drone strikes that should horrify any decent human being, but I don't see why it would bother a Republican. Every other word that comes out of Trump's mouth being a lie is sad, pathetic and sure a little worrisome, but him actually trying to follow through on promises is really what we're afraid of.
01-22-2017 , 12:20 AM
And suzzer,

While you collect yourself off the floor envisioning herr Drumpf rolling tanks into Damascus I'd like to point out the following:

In 2016 US special forces were active in 70% of the countries on Earth; a 130% increase from Bush/Cheney administration. Spreading freedom and goodwill no doubt.

Also we dropped 26000 bombs in 2016...which seems like a lot considering we aren't really at war with anyone.

And if you're wondering how effectual any of this has been I'll leave you with this:

You remember when Obama extra judicially assassinated actual American Citizen Anwar al-Alwaki....and then a couple weeks later murdered his teenage son and a friend at a barbecue?

Turns out the guy they were really after, and the purported justification for the second strike that literally killed two American citizens, Ibrahim al Banana, is alive after all. So good job there.....killed two teenage Americans, didn't get the actual terroirist. GJGE.

But keep focusing on your imagined wars that Drumpf will be carrying out.

Dude, the Obama report claiming A SINGLE non-combatant death came out like 2 days ago or something. It doesn't even pass the laugh test. It's a blatant lie about actually killing people.

Yet not a peep about it in the forums. Instead everyone is in a lather either talking about how great the Obama presidency is or how bad the Trump administration is going to be; busy fretting of Drumpf lying about celebrities or inauguration count or worshiping at the altar of DGAF Obama.

Like if your sensibilities are soooo offended by an administration lying about something completely irrelevant you should be like exploding with fury about lying re: civilian deaths.

But you, and I using the Royal You here, aren't offended that an administration lied, you're furious the this administration lied. You don't really care that the Executive is imbued with all these powers that can be used for massive evil....you care that it's Not Your Guy pressing the buttons.

I'm sure this guy was besides himself over the tens of thousands of dead Iraqis caused by the Iraq war. Turns out killing civilians is only a crime when a Democrat does it. Also dropping bombs on ISIS is only good when a Republican does it.

FWIW you'd likely to be hard pressed to find a supporter of the amount of military action undertaken during Obama's term among the liberals on this forum; it also seems extra-ironic coming from someone who likely supports Trump/Republicans who talk about the military and killing Muslim terrorists all day long.

There should be demonstrations about this or something. As many people as possible should know about the Federation of Northern Syria - Rojava which for the last few years has had a democratic system unlike any in the world. At some point people will start calling them terrorists and probably Islamic Fundamentalists and as likely as not most of our media will go along with it in a quite convincing manner.

Seems like the kind of government that in 1936-1937 Spain that the communists, fascists and liberal democratic governments all found common ground as a threat to their systems.

Quote:
The political system of Rojava is based on its constitution, which is called the "Charter of the Social Contract."[3][64] The constitution was ratified on 9 January 2014; it provides that all Rojava residents shall enjoy a fundamental right of gender equality and freedom of religion.[3] It also provides for property rights.[65]
Abdullah Öcalan, a Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader imprisoned in İmralı, Turkey, is an iconic and popular figure in Rojava whose ideas shaped the region's society and politics.[3] In prison, Öcalan corresponded with (and was influenced by the ideas of) Murray Bookchin, who favored social ecology, direct democracy, and libertarian municipalism (i.e., a confederation of local citizens' assemblies).[3] In March 2005, Öcalan issued his "Declaration of Democratic Confederalism in Kurdistan" based on Bookchin's ideas, calling upon citizens "to stop attacking the government and instead create municipal assemblies, which he called 'democracy without the state.'" Öcalan envisioned these assemblies as forming a pan-Kurdistan confederation, united for purposes of self-defense and with shared values of environmentalism, gender equality, and ethnic, cultural, and religious pluralism.[3] The ideas of Bookchin and Öcalan became established in Rojava,[66] where hundreds of neighborhood-based communes have established across the three Rojava cantons.[3] Rojava has a "co-governance" policy in which each position at each level of government in Rojava includes a "female equivalent of equal authority" to a male.[3] Similarly, the "top three officers of each municipality must include one Arab, one Kurd and one Christian" providing for ethnic balance. Some have compared this to the Lebanese confessionalist system, which is based on that country's major religions.[65] Rojava politics has been described as having "libertarian transnational aspirations" influenced by the PKK's shift toward anarchism, but also includes various "tribal, ethno-sectarian, capitalist and patriarchal structures."[65]

Is English your second language? I quoted a post celebrating 'GOAT Obama' for droning someone. That's the whole reason I responded.

And then you follow up with the standard if you don't agree with us 100% then you're a Trump (or Putin) supporter. smh.

Again, and I won't be holding my breath here, between this account and my pre-hack account, cleverly named savman, I've made my position clear on the Iraq War regardless of the administration; feel free to check. Been a member since 2005.

That's called being principled bro. I'm against gratuitous violence regardless of who happens to occupy the White House.
