I just don't understand why you take Zimms word as law. Regardless of how you feel about the guy it's not hard to see he's not being 100% truthfull. He has like 5 statements, the 911 call and the video reenactment and there are decrepencies in all of them.

Just because the guy's lied five or six times, and looked for a street sign behind the houses and not on the street, can't we just let him call it self defense anyway? He was totally reasonably in fear of the random black person walking down the street, if he didn't shoot him then the guy was probably going to break into his house in a few months anyway. This just saved time.

I've said my long standing theory of this case is that TM sees GZ, takes off, GZ follows, TM at some point catches a better look at GZ, thinks "I can take this weirdo, decks him, GZ goes down, TM mounts, catches sight of the gun, flips out, gets shot.

Would you recommend, say, going from the opposite direction from them and hoping they leave you alone and don't, for instance, follow you behind buildings while reaching for something that looks like a weapon?

That would be a prudent course of action, wouldn't it?

Also highly recommended: don't follow people in the dark (after telling them you're not following them -- you know, just to make sure they're completely afraid of you) if you don't want your nose broken.
